Penrith Panthers can confirm Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has been granted an immediate release from his contract to pursue an opportunity at another NRL club.

The 23-year-old winger was a member of the premiership-winning Panthers NYC side in 2013 and made his NRL debut the following year.

Watene-Zelezniak played 106 NRL games and scored 41 tries in his time at the club.

“As a local junior and a product of the Panthers development system, Dallin has given our club great service,” Panthers CEO Brian Fletcher said.

“While we’re obviously disappointed to release him, we do so knowing it is in the best interests of both parties.

“We extend our sincere thanks to Dallin for his contribution at Panthers and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Penrith announcing now that he is gone sounds like it is meant to disrupt us. Unless we announce him coming to us now (pre-game) Cows will probably announce it during our first half so it hits our players at half time.

I’m still around, but not much I can say at the moment.
But the concern with no DWZ announcement is real. Panthers potentially torpedoing our chance to sign him.

Haha no surprises there! Relations between the 2 clubs aren't exactly friendly after what took place last year. I'm surprised we are negotiating anything with them at all. Probably Ivan sticking the boot into us yet again.

On Kayo (Fox) now in the Souths Knights game, they just announced DWZ as leaving Penrith and most likely though not official going to WT. Nice.
