Chicken & chips nailed it-we bought Eddie to run hard & dent the line, just like he did at Souths,& when the challenge increased(along with the $$)he simply found it all too hard & was a shadow of the player the yr before.
Harsh,but good riddance

Wow what a cop out …we had an average pack and Eddie was given the chance .problem is Eddie is one paced and not a first grade Nrl player .its easy to come on when playing for souths after there big pack has made a dent in their opposition .. It's hard when you have to make the dents .. Enjoy ESL Eddie ,cause it's more to your pace

If Menzies can play keep playing towards his late 30's in ESL there is a chance that Eddie may also be suited to ESL. There is therefore also a chance that he won't blame his new coach.

Poor bugger getting paid good money to play a great sport. & was depressed cause we were losing etc … How do you think us as fans feel? You were playing like you're heart wasn't in it. You shouldn't of signed with us then it's not our fault how bloody ridiculous . When the going gets tough.

Eddy probably cant spell "Accountability" let alone know what it means…glad he's gone...wish he'd taken our other big name signing from 2012 with him in Bodene Thompson

I don't have an issue attacking a blokes footy ability but he's admitted other problems here.

I never had any high expectations from Eddy. After his signing was announced I took a lot more interest in his game and while I was hopeful (the Tiger fan's main character trait!), I couldn't see that he would make a real difference. That combined with Souths being willing to let him go made me a bit sceptical.

Hope he finds his place in the ESL.

Good players are adaptable

Lets leave it at that

Not always

Funny , have never heard a State of Origin player whinge about their coach if they don't play well

They do at NRL level , especially fringe first graders who can't crack it or aren't getting what they want

I remember a Pettybourne hit up v Penrith or Parra from a goal line drop out early in the season that took many of our breathes away

And that was his highlight

Why couldn't he do that week in week out ??

Absolutely. Its bloody hard to admit to depression, just because he hasn't layed it on thick doesn't mean he wasn't dealing with some serious issues.

People tend to downplay whats really going on in those situations.

blokes are harsh!
He is a real person with real life problems, he is not a robot.
He would have wanted to play better than he was, but admitted he struggled.
He is not a big name player and he is not on huge coin, and like it or not, this is a job for a lot of these guys, and often when conditions are not right people are not happy and this effects performance in whatever we do.
IN this case he has mentioned depression which is a medical condition that unfortunately is still much maligned. Would people be ok if it emerged he was underperforming cause he was dealing with diabetes?

Well Goose I would be hoping the club would pick up during the medical that he had diabetes and then the club could of made an educated decision whether they would of signed him or not

It wouldn't have changed my comments if he had diabetes Ten of thousands of Australians deal with diabetes and are expected to give their best efforts and stay focussed on their jobs

Diabetes and depression are illnesses not excuses .

"Mick Potter wasn't my style" Don't worry Eddy not many players born after 1980 are Potters style.

Well these are all your players now Potter….NO Excuses.

Yeh,Simona,Noffo,Sirro,Teddy,Brooks,Moses,Brown,Sue,Rowe are all young and not in Potter's plans for this year and beyond. :crazy

What ?
Eddy was not suited to Potter's style last year neither was Blake and Benji. His changed things around this year with Kidwell and Payten. His learning on the run as they all are.
I hope Potter turns it all around and is the best coach we ever had. Won't say anymore until round 13.
Simona,Noffo,Sirro,Teddy,Brooks,Moses,Brown and Sue are all locals. They were not recruited. Recruitment has been diabolical and easily the worst in the NRL but the new recruits which I presume Potter brought to the club at this stage seem better than last year..I hope they are.

He had every chance to play well.

He was Benji's goto second rower close to the line early in the season. I lost count of how many times he couldn't hold the ball when a scoring opportunity was on.
