Eels Exchange deal?

Guys, hearing today that an exchange deal is on the cards - Mullaney for Mortimer!
Anyone else heard this?

Also Justin Poore supposedly wants out of the Eels next year (or is being let go not sure)

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo why are we always intrested in bad players

Halves depth is never a bad thing.

True halves depth that is.

Waters & Jack are ok but not likely to be called up. A combination of Miller & Mortimer in State Cup with Sirro Jnr in NYC is a pretty handy slate of back up talent and real depth.

We have lacked penetration on kick returns for a while now and IMHO Jake would not solve those issues for us.

Add to all of this that Mortimer is on good coin so it could not be a straight swap

From what i heard it is not an official "exchange" just that Parra have been asking about Mullaney and vice versa re Mortimer. I agree, we dont necessarily need another half or 5/8 - spose it just keeps the pressure on Lui/Miller/ etc - i personally would rather have kept Moltzen.

Poore on the other hand may be OK but unless he is significantly less in $$ than Gibbs or Fifita why bother?

He definately isnt a 6, but I have always felt he would go ok at 7 with a dominant 6\. I like the idea of him feeding the ruck, so 9 could be an option off the bench…

As to an exchange, I dont understand how a club can 'exchange' a free agent (Mullaney isnt contracted for 2012 to my knowledge)

Don't know if this would be for Mortimer although I could see a straight swap for Tom humble. Pretty sure sheens has some good wraps on him and he's not going to get a gig over Hayne or Burt

He'd be pretty handy coming off the bench and moving into dummy half, giving Robbie a chance at first receiver.

We don't need him though. Not fussed whether he joins us or not, so long as he doesn't muddy the field of halves we already have.. Benji, Lui, Miller, Sirro etc.

i'd rather Poore over Mortimer, but the risk with Poore is that he'd turn into another Ryan O'Hara
if we're talking Parra forwards, the 1 i'd like to get is Shane Shackleton

The Eels have to get rid of a prop as they have apparently signed John Mannah from the Sharks, the swap between Mullaney and Mortimer would be OK as it's evident that despite all the early promise Jake is not destined to be a NRL player, Mortimer on the other hand with a new coach?.

I think it's hilarious that we just get over one rumour (Grant this time) and within the hour there's another one doing the rounds!!!

Not saying this ones not true either Dazza, I just think it's funny.

he has a new coach this yr
there are players who benefit from a change of secenery, however he isn't 1 who would benefit much,as he is just gawd awful

Eels got sucked into a bidding duel with Dogs chasing a surname-unfortunately the kid is small, slow & of very modest talent.
Think Eels wld swap him for anyone to be honest…maybe even Beau..?
