Electric bills

This is probably a whimsical concept, but I can’t stop wondering what sort of outcome would be achieved by building modern coal fired power stations at numerous strategic locations, closing the old ones, and supplying our modern stations with our own coal?
Surely it would give us at least 5 decades to discover better technology and install a world class national grid?

Hahahahaha, the closing old power stations were all built at strategic locations, through a simple criteria of being beside waterways near coal deposits that are reasonably close to population centres.

As for waiting another 5 decades of potential discovery of better technologies, who knows, there may or may not be any major breakthrough. Perspective wise, we are already some seven decades into commercial power generation development of silicon based solar panels, about twice that with wind and hydro, and my 60yo lifetime for viable tidal options.

U know that labour have been lying at each election,
1) power bills will be cheaper , solar and wind will be cheaper , what they don’t tell us who’s going to pay , when the solar and wind need replacing in 15 - 20 and where will they bury them .
2) went to the last election saying u only need ur Medicare card , what a lot of crap , we pay $65 to see a doctor
3) but I can’t seem to find any one who voted for these imposters.
All of the above is the truth, but certain groups only vote for labour , god help us if he gets in again
*labor

Don’t know where u got ur info about solar panels and wind mills, they all have toxic material in them and can’t be reused , my mate installs panels, and I think I trust him rather than the government
About the only toxicity in them is the lead and cadmium totalling a little under 15g per panel and manufactured in a way to prevent seepage. Compare that to the 10 million tonnes of coal ash (which is toxic) produced by nsw coal stations each year. The argument really doesn't stack up.
THe bulk of a panel is glass and aluminium easily recyclable. Other parts include copper and silver (easy). The silicone can be but not so easy and until tech improves probably not economically worth while, but again tech is improving.
Basically only some adhesives and plastics plus that little bit of heavy metal that is a concern. But compared to coal station waste it is bugger all.

Consecutive governments of both persuations have squandered the potential wealth from our natural resources.
The entire resource export saga needs a complete re-set
Both parties have sold us out for decades
Were missing out on billions to top up politicians personal superannuation
Same deal with international transfer pricing for multinationals
Im gonna keep going ..the foregone tobacco excise given up to illegal imports is estimated to be $30 bill...because the intrinsically lazy AFP..blah blah
We pay so much tax in this country because of numerous loopholes which are totally transparent to most outside of ACT
