It may explain why Jason Schirnack was left out of the BRET side though. I assumed injury but if this was known about Ellis early on in the week it may be a safe assumption that Jason will come in

Smeg I think we are screwed up front. Take out Galloway and Ellis, our 2 best forwards IMO and that is 80% of our size and aggression gone.

I remember a few games over the last couple of years when we have played with a depleted pack. Not Pretty.

Well this thread just gave me the confirmation of Ellis being out that I needed. I needed a source other than MMM and hopefully from someone's involved mouth. Moltzen has more or less confirmed it for me.

On the assumption that Cayless is out and that J. Schirnack is not injured - Jason is in for sure.

Our main playmakers are in tact.

We need whoever comes in to step up and make yardage and hold our defensive structure.

Being tested for depth and commitment early is not that bad a thing

Yes our playmakers are in tact, however I can bring up a few examples of that being the case and us being belted. Parra in 2008 at Homebush, Gold Coast last season with our season on the line. If you asked me to give a rating from 1 to 10 of players the Tigers can ill afford to lose, Galloway would be rank 3 and Ellis rank 4.

Dont get me wrong, I still think it will a pretty close game. The Cows are no world beaters. But losing Galloway and Ellis is a hammer blow to our pack, which has struggled a little at full tilt anyway.

Yeah but we have guys like Fifita to come in and prove themselves. A guy like Moors who played very well in the Eels game and possibly the mongrel of a youngster like Schirnack. We are not in a position like seasons past carrying passengers like Halatau and playing Payne in the props position.

It makes things harder without doubt but it is games like these that can really galvanise a squad and cement an attitude for the year
