Good thread!
What I can hardly believe is the late-game composure from Tigers, in addition to the defence. I am no longer freaking out when teams are camped on our line, nor do I think the game is blown so long as there are a few mins left.
Rd 1 attacking Easts with a few mins left, I was praying to the God Of Football "please please please" and whaddya know we score AND kick the conversion.
Thought to myself "that's it, your single football miracle wish for 2018 has been used up".
But lo, Week 2 another "please please please" and we get up again. Didnt work for Broncos but I was astounded we even got back to 7-7.
Then yesterday, wondering how we'd claw back 10-6, but actually we finished fairly over the top of Melb and almost scored twice before we actually did. Then to take the next set and drive into FG and actually slot it - amazing, I was just so proud of how composed and professional the entire unit was.
Melb threw plenty at us late but we just kept turning up, we are a true 80 minutes team in most games. I don't think even the best WT sides have been so resolute for 80 mins, so I am just so proud and honestly amazed.
For example, Packerlino dont pile on the metres like Woods used to, but you can see a different impact in pure physicality and defence, even Nelson A-S was snuffed put to the point of 3 to 4 handling errors. And the metres are spread out amongst all the forwards, no one person taking a million hitups. We are getting on top of most other forward packs and it makes the late-game easier for us.
If we could just have one long-distance threat like an Addo-Carr, we'd not just be a threat, we might actually be a dominant force. Melb showed we defn lack for pace.
