Ennis To Be Named Bulldogs Captain Today

CANTERBURY'S new era will take another major step today when Michael Ennis is announced as the new captain of the Bulldogs.
The passionate NSW Origin hooker will replace retired skipper Andrew Ryan at the helm of a Dogs outfit determined to erase their 2011 failures.

Ennis's appointment as captain is premiership-winning coach Des Hasler's first major decision since defecting from Manly.

The rake, who also had stints at Newcastle, Brisbane and St George-Illawarra, has told those close to him that being named captain is the greatest moment of his career.

The Canterbury Bulldogs will formally announce Ennis's appointment at a press conference today where a new sponsorship deal aligned specifically with Hasler will also be revealed.

Looking at Ennis and the type of player he is, this could be a bad mistake. He definately isnt what I'd be looking at as Captain Material!

I didn't think it was possible to hate the bulldogs more then I did last season , but it just went to a new level . I sincerely hope 1.that Ennis plays every game and 2\. they get the wooden spoon .

At the risk of sounding rather unpopular - I think he'll make a good captain for them.

All niggles and grubby behaviour on the field aside, he is a quality guy OFF the field, and whilst getting up the ire of the players, he is well spoken, and knowledgeable enough to command the respect of the Referees.

It's a smart move by the Dogs, I mean, who else would you put in that role? Look at their team list - Ennis stands out like dogs balls as Captain material.

As Inspirational as Farah is for our boys, he sometimes comes off looking like a whinger - Now that might be down to the incredulous tone in his voice when talking to referees, but its noticeable. Ennis doesn't have that whinge factor about him.

As much as it nearly kills me to write this, I agree with Underdog, I think Ennis will go well with the captaincy. He reminds me a lot of our own Darren Senter - a real pain in the ass on the field, but a dogged captain and player, who will do whatever he can to gain his team the upper hand. I don't think there was any other choice to make really. He is in a key position and has the most experience of any of the Dogs.

Every other clubs fans hated Senter….like enis
I grew to really like him.

I think the (C) will resrict enis' game, or more so his mouth...either that or he'll stay the same and be a crap (C)
