Now, sitting back and listening to all of this commotion has become a joke. How the hell the people involved in this club can even sleep at night has me mystified. i have been a supporter of the "Balmain Tigers" all of my life. And due to no other choice, I have been supporting the Wests Tigers since. I am used to reading this kind of stuff about other NRL teams, NOT my team. Looking from the outside in and believing half of what I hear and half of what I see, What is going on? First of all our season. I'm sorry but this season was never going to be a good one from the start. Who in their right mind allows a player, who has a contract with a professional football team, to appear as a regular host on a national television footy show? Let alone have two players doing it. The arguments include it gives the club exposure lol. Because that's what the club is looking for, exposure. Don't worry about doing what's best for the club to win games, let's just worry about our exposure. In case you peanuts didn't notice this, Exposure comes when you WIN football games  I ask anyone out there if they honestly think Benji Marshall played anywhere near his best for us all season. Now i think Benji is the best player at the club by far, But sometimes you need someone to pull even the biggest stars heads in. And it was not the smartest thing to do by coming out on the footy show and supporting Sheens, While the mutiny was going on between the players. This shows how spineless the current crop of players are. Having Ryan on the footy show was the best thing that could ever have happened to his career. No one even knew who this very average utility player was before his Footy Show fame. He will be NO LOSS. Now his fame from this show has helped secure him a handsome deal elsewhere. Tim Sheens without a doubt has been the best thing that has ever happened to the Wests Tigers. No wonder after 2005 we have not done anything in this game. We have become a team of FRAGILE, TIMID, Pre Madonna's. Seriously, who carries on like little cry babies when a team mate signs with another club? Has someone passed away or have an illness that can't be cured? Oh no, that's right they have just left a footy club.
This makes me put my head down when I'm at the pub with my mates. What a disgrace. The good old NRL, when men used to be men, and now they are all emotional pussies. If any players are reading this, then you will need to harden up.

The players aren't crying over every player that signs elsewhere, they are upset about the manner in which its happening. And frankly so are most of the fans.

If life long fans of the club can't see this, how are casual fans supposed to?

Sheens was the one who not only allowed but encouraged Beau and Benji in their tv roles at 9\. The team has developed into a spineless rabble under his coaching. This is partially why he is no longer our coach. Benji has been very sheltered in his professional career, he needs a new boss.

Yes, best exposure is from winning.

100%

Rather disappointed in how the situation has been handled. You would take it pretty tough when your best mates are shown the door by the club you are so invested in.

First post Hank … Got a bit worked up ... Touch of premature evaluation.
Don't worry son, we've all been there.

LOL Yes I know. I've been firing up at everyone about this. But I'm finding myself very passionate about this subject. If it takes someone like me, who never posts or looks at forums like this, to take the time out to find one and have my say. That must be telling these crocodiles something.
It happens in every club, every year. Wait until Ricky Stuart gets into Parra. That man has a reputation to uphold haha.

And the Sheens promoting the media thing. Proof of this?

Nah, I'm just having a laugh … Nice first post, you made some good points

**" Pre Madonna's"**

:roll

Sorry to only highlight the above from your lengthy paragraph mate, but this just cracked me up!

Last year I was like you Hank jr, passionate, full of opinions thought that I knew some things about my team. Having made 200 posts now I'm glad that you can now take the torch and have your opinions laughed at and your passion rubbed out. Great 1st post, I don't agree with it but good work.

Some good points mate Welcome to the Forum

Benji isn't the best player at this club and probably not the 2nd or 3rd best player

Farah is by far a better player and our best player

Sad and at the same time hilarious….. because it is so true!

and it's about to happen to me.....

..... I agree that Benji IS the best player here. Not third best (happy). Yes, he had a bad year last year. So what? Johns had bad years too, so did Alfie, Wally, Freddy etc.... did you ever think they were third best on their team? Never.

Farah is a legend, and the glue, but Benji is special. I honestly think that it is not too much of a stretch to say that he will probably go down as the best ever Tigers player in history (maybe not greatest Magpie though). To qualify that- the Greatest Balmain Tigers players of the modern era probably are: Beetson and Hanley (both stints too brief) and maybe K Barnes (who was NOT spectacular actually). The players in the late 80's were the next level really from being greats, being Elias, Roach, Pearce, Sironen, Brasher, Jack and there were others over the years that were good but not great e.g. Corowa, Yow Yeh, Bolton.
Farah probably sits in the second tier. So do Prince and Hodgson in my opinion.

In my opinion Benji is better than the lot of them. You can disagree all you like, but he will also probably be remembered as greater than all of them as well.

How can Benji be classed as the best when he is so hit & miss

He hasn't performed v a top 4 side since the Manly game last year

We would win far more games with Farah playing and Benji missing , than vice versa

Lewis NEVER had a season like that , especially in his prime

I'll respond in order:

Agree, he can be a bit hit and miss. But two years ago he "performed" way more than not, won the golden boot, NZ final etc. He was also pretty awesome for other major patches in his career so far.

He has had great games v Melbourne. Anyway, he doesn't always have to "perform" in order to be effective.

Don't agree.

Fair call, even though Lewis was not the same in his latter years I'll agree that he probably never had such a dismal year.

Good first post… This is a Fans Forum and we all come here to support our team. I can't wait to get back talking about the Tigers carving it up on the paddock!

And Siro, Don't confuse Talent with Greatness.... They are miles apart!

Its a balancing act
Exposure is needed, exposure is what makes the sponsors cough up the big bikkies, exposure gets us the $$$$ to get the good players to win games that in turn - get us exposure.

Kaz, if his passion is doused due to anyone here, he's as weak as P…..i get the impression hanks made of sterner stuff.
The so called proffesional unit we all support, their carryings on will test anyones support & desire
