ET/Cleary Connection

With ET only being offered a one year contract at this stage I've been wondering if maybe the reason is he is waiting to see if we end up with Cleary as coach next year.

It is common knowledge that he and Clearly had a great relationship and he featured heavily in Cleary's future plans and that he only lost his first grade spot once Griffin took over at the Panthers. Maybe the only reason he is with us is the chance that Clearly was thrown up as potential coach and he thought there is a chance of reuniting with him at the Tigers.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it or maybe I'm just dreaming?!? :sign:

I doubt that this is occurring. If we offer ET a decent wage he will stay with us. I think most players are like this as well.

Money talks. He has now put himself in the shop window in a big way, and with SBW confirmed to union, he will be at the roosters next year

Does anyone really rate Cleary? Looks to have the personality of cardboard, not exactly inspiring. Would rather stick with Taylor I think..

Reputation 2 - is that a misprint - should be 1002 - Scotty

Haha glad you agree, I thought I was the only one and missing something. But yeah even if we didn't hang on to Taylor there are much better options.

I'd be interested to know whether anyone thinks that ET could really play any better under a different coach. Watching him, I don't think he could be much better - an absolute champion.

I don't see that happening at all. He is being utilised really well as well. I'm not sure if that is on the coach or not.

I'm guessing we are getting him for next to nothing at the moment

We are going to have to find some big bucks to keep him , forget the Cleary factor

As we saw in the Klemmer situation , people sign contracts to put the biggest TV's on their walls , the best car they can buy and to put food on the table for their family

Playing with a good coach is important , but you should always back yourself as a footballer firstly and foremost

Race and religion? As I mentioned in my post about it, maybe that will be a factor for him. Surely he must feel comfortable here on those counts.

wait..what players play well and your not sure if it's the Coach or not…if they stink it's the Coach yeah..or do the good players just make it up as they go along..

I'm pretty confident Elijah will be here beyond this year...

I don't think the coach should be blamed for players playing poorly or get all the credit for the players playing well. I do think if the coach appears to be using the players right he deserves credit and vice versa.

I think ET is being used really well.

Basically most teams play as well as they are allowed to play. Okay you get the odd day where everything works and you get the odd day when your as flat as a pancake, but usually the other team has a lot of say in how you go. Most days the better team wins and the better team is usually the team with the better roster. Good coaches help, but usually because they can attract better players not because they are better coaches…and where we are as a club at present means we have a real battle every week trying to get the points, but take heart we are a club on the up and I would much prefer to be in our shoes than plenty of clubs who are on the decline

Well according to Milky, Cleary was the one who signed him to come here lol

Stop putting words in my mouth

I said there could be some sort of link between the two
