Experts theory on the role of our 7 is soooo incorrect!

I heard over the weekend that with the form Marshall is in he only needs someone in the 7 jersey for us to pass the ball to him. Soooooooo wrong!!! If all our make shift 7 does is pass to Benji, and the defence knows this, Benji will get absolutely no room. Moltzen was brilliant to have there as he was fast and could pass. He knew when to run the ball and did every so often, meaning the defence couldn't jam across onto Benji.

I cant stress enough that we need to keep Marshall playing wide and have someone inside him who can distribute the ball to him, but also have the defence constantly wondering if he will pass or run. If this stops happening with Moltzen out, Benji's game will become less effective.

For this reason i wouldnt be considering Fitzhenry at all. Id be going with a proper 7 (or close to it), like Lazarus. Worst case, with seemingly all other decent options injured or not available, id be putting Fulton there who can at least run to the line and offload and keep the defence guessing atleast a little.

lazurus should get a shot IMo as he is killing it at state cup level and i believe he would stand up in the top grade. Arana did not play this week as still injured. Give blake a go and that is just a straight swap halfback for halfback instead of moving a heap of players around just to cover 1 position

The so called highly paid experts make me laugh. The Sunday Footy Show panel came up with Robbie at 7 or Fitzy going into 6\. As they have absolutely nothing to do when not getting to watch games for free and comment for cash they could at least make sure their knowledge of the game from top to bottom is in depth and not just what every fan on the street could churn out.

Haha you said exactly what I was thinking Iron, they were mainly saying Bneji should go to 7 and either Lawrence, Fulton, Fitz, or Ryan go to 5/8, or Benji at 6 and put Farah at 7.

Fittler said Sheens told him that he saw Lawrence's future in the halves… How long ago was that? Lol

I agree with the straight swap theory.
This is Blake's opportunity name him at seven, start a bench utility player to take the pressure of him if necessary, make as few changes to the squad personnel and positions as possible.

Benji needs to stay wide, one of the reasons things worked so well is Moltzen has line breaking ability himself which took pressure of Benji and allowed him to chime in when he wanted much like Lockyer does with Wallace (that's where the comparison ends

If Sheens wont promote a young player (we have seen this time and time again especialy when it comes to the halves) then Fulton must play there, I truly hope the last few seasons have shown that it doesn't pay to move Robbie from his most dangerous position or Benji for that matter. Less disruptions the better.

Was the reason Sheens never promoted young guys last year due to salary cap restraints? If so, are we facing the same problem already this year?

It shouldn't be a problem. Lazzo is in our top 25 as I recall, same with Taumata, so it shouldn't effect our Cap at all.. unless the guys are on match payments.

Should be Lazo picked I think…
Or even Darren Nicholls wouldn't let anyone down & has a nice kicking game.. also has experience playing with a dominent 5/8 in Lui in last years NYC..

Although the commentators are only half wrong, Benji & Robbie run the side anyhow no matter who is in the 7 jersey

and now wayne pearce thinks Benji to 7 & Lawrence or similar to 6 & freeman thinks fitzhenry to 7!!
Idiots.

wonder why these fools even have a job!!!

look at manly and what they have done by NOT playing makeshift halves same with the warriors with the untested maloney

Makeshift halves are NOT the answer

Interesting times for the club. On the cusp of great success. Decisions, decisions, decsions.

**Ron** if Fitzy was selected at 7 and (hypothetically) we won the next three or gour straight, would you support him as our half back??

no, because he isnt a half back. lazo or lui to play there as they are natural halves aswell. you can only get away with makeshift halves for so long,

umm interesting.

So if I was to come back at you in four weeks time and said I want Fitzy as our 7 because with him there we have won 6 straight what would you say?

Oh southern, you are kidding.

Dead set, did Moltzen run over your cat? First Robson, now Fitzhenry.

Stop being a fruit loop, honestly.

id say good but he isnt a half back, i know where you are heading with this but as i said he isnt a half back and we wont win the comp and trust me we wont win 3 games in a row with him at HB moltzen is a half a junior rep half fitzy is a rep of getting in everyones way
