Extremely confused about this years draw

Have to be honest, this is one of the worst draws the nrl have created in many years. The fact that teams are playing 4 weeks after first versing each other has been well documented but the fact that the nrl has some teams having no byes a week before origin in all 3 games including us is just as bizarre. I also find it incredibly ridiculous the fact that we have been hyping up the 2005 grand final winning 10 year anniversary game against the cowboys, yet the 2 skippers of opposing teams that played a key role won't be playing because it will be played a week before origin 1\. :crazy

Just realised our bye circumstances after it was mention on Sterlo. Talk about copping the rough end of the stick. As for missing Farah and Thurston, well you can't expect all the planets to align all of the time.

same as usual really, not too bad a draw this year.

we played dogs round 19 and then round 24 from memory last year. same deal.

once they shorten up the comp in 2018 to have each team play each other once plus a few derby games and stand alone origin things will be better

It's easy, just look at who we are playing next week and focus on beating them. Let Melbourne whinge about the draw…it's not our go, we hav never been whingers just get in with it.

Is that actually happening or did a joke just go over my head?

It was better in the old days…everything very equal and fair...play everyone twice, once at home, once away

Easiest way of getting a better draw is to finish higher up the table

I can sort of understand this mentality but at the same time the rabbitohs have no byes during the origin period as well. I have to say that imo the only way the draw can ever be fair is by having stand alone weekends and to make this feasible for broadcasters is that they should also televise the u/20s soo game as well

Last years ladder has no bearing on next years draw any more….it used to when there were three pools of teams...that was scrapped a few seasons ago now

.As soon as round 26 finished you could work out who you were playing once and twice the next year

im pretty sure that will be happening, the demand on players is too much at the moment (cue oldies talking about how many games they used to play back in the day) and the NRL sucks so much during origin so they'll wanna minimise that by reducing the period from 7 weeks and putting it as stand alone.

I think there's enough potential rep football to make a full weekend's viewing. Why make origin week just NSW vs QLD? It's hardly reflective of the makeup of the league these days anyway. Throw NZ, Tonga, Samoa, PNG, Fiji and maybe even an expat English team into the mix. CH 9 still fills out it's schedule and we get a more interesting comp.
