Famous from your school

I went to a small country school, inverell high.
Phil bailey was a few years above me and his younger brother Chris was in my year. Phil played both nsw n Australia whilst Chris played nrl for both knights n manly.

Remember playing in the yr 12 team heading to Tamworth with our under 14's to play farah agricultural high in both grades. Their under 14's side had this kid playing in the centres absolutely towered over our boys scoring 4 or 5 tries. His name was Tom learoyd now known as learoyd lahrs.

Tim Brasher went to Grantham High School in Seven Hills.

Was a stand out and a class about the rest of the team.

You knew if he could stay injury free he would be a great player.

Apparently only got 50 for his HSC so lucky he could play league and union.

I was also at Grantham (now Hills Sports High), a couple of years below Tim. From memory in the one year he made the Australian Schoolboys League side, and the NSW Union & AFL school sides.

Yes his school marks were poor. JP 2 actually got him over repeat Year 12 so he could play in their football side but he made FIrst Grade during the year and couldn't play schoolboys anymore.

You'd be amazed at what some schools do to try and get star footballers to repeat

Brett Plowman (late 80's and 90's player with Brisbane and Parra ) bit in TNT mold was offerred $10 k and a car to repeat at Brisbane Boys College in 1987

Ashcroft High

Ben teo

Brad fittler.

Jason taylor.

Use to be an urban myth that Angus and Malcolm Young were both expelled from
The school. Highly doubtful. But we claimed it.

John Jansen from St George taught maths at Drummoyne Boys High in the late 70's, he always had dry salive in the corners of his mouth and a wad of notes in his shirt pocket, he also got Greg Brentnall from Canterbury to visit us on sports days, i think Brentnall was showing us how to take a high ball, unfortunately Drummoyne Boys was a rugby yawnion school.

CBHS Lewisham; we had some first graders between the 70s to 90s, like Steve Gearin, Tim Pickup, Paul Osborne, Shane Rigon. Osborne captained the school to the Commonwealth Bank Cup final '84, lost to Gregs (and again in 1986). Solo Haumono was a few years ahead of me, the only kid I'd ever seen dunk the basketball ring in the main yard. Last FG I know of was Andrew Lomu who played for Roosters and Raiders. Not bad for a school that doesn't really offer sporting scholarships and isn't a feeder to any NRL teams.

Socceroo Brett Holman was also a few years below me. Old Swans ruckman Greg Stafford was there too.

Outside of sport, the most famous alumni are probably David Wenham the actor and Dr Victor Chang.

Also our man Stephen Humphreys is a Lewo boy.

Forgot some other famous from my school Former Socceroo and Everton goalkeeper Jason Kearton

Former maths teacher (and guidance officer ) former Austalian hockey coach Barry Dancer

School 1
Mark Winterbottom

School 2
Anthony Mundine & Lance Thompson

played junior footy with Daniel Abraham and coached current WT u'20s squad member Jarrad Szczudlo

Just remembered another sportsman teacher @ Ibrox Park Tont Moore played 5/8 for Randwick & australia, when he went to England with australia we took up a collection for him as in those days they got bugger all.

went to Narrabeen Sports High, which really didn't produce that many future stars considering it was a school for sport.

but Steve Menzies came from there, and I was in Anthony Watmough's class for Year 8 and Year 9\. good bloke when he wanted to be, but he had some problems back then. glad to see him starting to sort it out.

Arthur Summons, my Tech Drawing Teacher at Meadowbank Boys High 1960.
Arthur ruled the class,
