Strength in numbers! GS Warriors Tagline!
Love that team, been following since early 2000s and saw them go through a very similar situation to us in 2010\. NBA Champions in 2015 BTW.
Let's stick solid! (Could use that too.)
There's more than one fan.
I'm not sure either of you actually qualify as "fans".

Unforfttunately the club will never grow up whilst ever membership is just a fan membership. The board are not accountable to the membership. Unless that changes it will be the status quo.
@ said:Yeah I agree with all of that, except I have no idea of what goes on at board level or whether there are troubles and I don't really care about it.

There isn't a comp in the world where "accountability to fans" means squat. Fans show up if teams win, because 90% of fans are casual at best. I'm sorry, but we - the ones who show up regardless, feel the pain, agonise about our teams - we are a tiny minority.
Think about it. Real Madrid. The New England Patriots. The Boston Red Sox. The All Blacks. Hawthorn. Alabama Crimson Tide. UConn whatever they are women's basketball. How many of these teams are "accountable to fans". The answer is none.
Let it go. We're all just wallets to these people. It sucks. Either accept it for what it is - an entertainment business that isn't designed for your personsal gratification - or walk away. Don't pretend there's a big fairness god that's going to come down and make it all ok.

No your right I'm a paying West Tigers member and always will be. FYI I meant 'Happy' as in Happy Tiger. It was tounge in check.
My personal opinion is that I am glad how everything has turned out.
1\. We picked an assertive articulate coach that has a good history of rebuilding clubs.
2\. We allowed that coach right to recruitment and retention and hence revised our offers.
3\. We've resigned a team player in a key position to build the spine and club around.
4\. We haven't backed down to Isac or Mitchells demands when Parra would not come to the party and offer us a player of worth in return.
3\. We imposed a deadline on the Wood$ and teddy contract, most likely brought about after hearing all the third party information about them moving on.
4\. We went public with that deadline to get some control and ensure our members, fans that the buck stops here and the players have 24 hours to make a decision regarding their future.
5\. Despite that slimy manager leaking the futures of his players to the media for a 'BREAKING NEWS' announcement on Thursday night we still stuck to our deadline after not hearing a word from the players or their manager before the dealing passed.
6\. The 24 hour statement on Thursday and following statement on Friday was the clubs way of being able to get on top of the waiting game of the COP and ensure stakeholders, fans, members and other players thinking of linking with the club what our future will be like in advance to the announcements of the players signing with other clubs. Could you imagine if we were still waiting the Bulldogs extended COP to end before we hear anything, I don't think that will be till after the rep round.
7\. Despite some talent being snapped up by respective clubs we are officially active in the player market and still in a very strong position to buy and build this team moving forwards.
8\. Finally we as fans and more to an extent the playing staff know exactly the attitude and position of the 3 players leaving. Mo$es begged to leave. Wood$ and Teddy failed to meet a deadline. The club knows where they sit with those players and is able to make a fair assement of their character and use that to our advantage for the remainder of the year.
9\. The desparation shown of them wanting to get out may still enable us to be in the stronger position in regards to player swaps. Trick is we have to honour the contract, but there is nothing to say we still need to make those players the focal point of our team this year. They may all want to stay on the park together and try one last time to win a premiership, 'hah'! but the coach has every right to pick and play the team how he sees fit moving forwards.

I wasn't suggesting you weren't a fan I was talking about happy and goldcoast tiger, who at this moment is probably blaming the Wests Tigers board for the nuclear armament of North Korea.

Er, yeah, I guess. In the sense that it will remain like every other professional sports outfit in the world. So I'm not sure what point you're even trying to make in all honesty.

@ said:@ said:@ said:I think the board have failed us in several ways.
They backed JT - Who I thought was a poor appointment (but some could argue he did a decent job)
Which Took out Farah and alienated some of the fans.
Then Sacked JT 3 weeks into the season after backing him to the hilt all summer.
Seems like policy on the run.
We are paying for players to play elsewhere. All our players were off contract at the same time.
No, I distinctly recall you supporting the JT appointment. You posted that you had inside mail that he blew the board away with his preparation for the interview whereas Potter simply expected the role. I even recall you attended a fan forum that Taylor presented at and was impressed with his analysis of our defensive problems under Potter and Sheens.
JT may not have been the right man for the job but his record was no worse than Potter. JT was also a change agent. He came in and gave an honest assessment of some of the players on the list and their longevity.
The sacking of JT was the right decision and it was the right timing. Our performance in 2016 wasn't great but it was enough to stick with him. The problem was that our performances in rounds 2 and 3 were so poor it was clear that JT was getting the traction and improvement from the players. Most concerning was that our edge defence simply hadn't improved.
From a qualitative assessment, JT had to go.
Your post also misconceives a board's role. No one expects them to be Nostradamus and make all the right decisions. Rather, so long as they are listening to the experts on decisions like coach recruitment, player retention etc that is all that can be expected. Their job is to create the systems and process to build for success. From all reports the Board had tried to do that although there have been blockers - being people that don't like change - Siro Sr, Farah etc are just some of the examples.
Your preaching to the converted mate.
You have a good memory Southern, better then mine!
I di not attend any fan forum however I think there was one live streamed from memory on the Tigers website.
Your right, Southern what I should have said ia after about 6 weeks of football I thought JT was a poor appointment. At the start I had hope for Taylor I made some positive posts about him. Although if you recall I was not in favour of firing Potter, as you were. However I did also say in the Pre season I didn't like the way he bagged past coaches and did not like the job he did at Souths and how that finished. After that Taylor ball garbage and ringing up a radio station live on air to defend himself North Queensland I was off him completely.

Was it after it came out that Taylor wanted to move Farah on that you thought he was a bad coach Eddie?
