What concerns me is the fact that Taylor approached Farah for a meeting before he met with the rest of the team. It automatically raises Farah's status above the rest of the team and could be read as pandering. I know Farah is team captain, life member etc etc and does deserve a special approach

Looks like you've answered your own question there mate.

Pretty normal for a new coach to speak the existing captain before the team

I will be very surprised if the captain and coach end up at loggerheads. Both have too much to lose.
