Farah hand

I've never had a broken hand so this may be a dumb question but is it possible for the docs to needle it?

I think it depends on the nature of the break to be honest. I broke my hand last year, a small bone on the outside of it. Hurt pretty bad at the time and there's no way I could have played a game a week later, I would have struggled to pass and tackle. 4 weeks later and it was pretty good.

Given the amount of work Farah gets through in defence, and touches of the ball, I can't really picture him playing in the next 2 weeks. If we make the semis, well maybe, I reckon he'll do his best to defy the odds and if it can be needled, it will be.

Fair enough. Guess I'm just clutching at straws. Really can't see us doing to much damage without him

This weekend can't get any worse

the stupid pretender raiders win we lose in golden point because of the ref lose Farh to a broken hand.

and Minichello gets sent off meaning he won't play next week which is a shame because he sucks now.

Whoever plays fullback for them next week you can guarantee will have a blinder.

Seriously without Farah we are little hope. Never have been.

The Yousefa cannot tackle to save his life.

He can tackle. But he doesn't get in the right position to make the tackle.

It is possible to play with a fractured Metacarpal ( Bone in palm of your hand ) he would have to wear a splint …. so there is slim hope for Farah to play on

I broke my hand first tackle in a match, played out the whole game but toward the end, was having trouble closing my fingers around the ball, by the time the hand had cooled down later that night there was no way I could catch a ball or clench my fist, I think it depends where the break is and how if affects the mobility of the hand, I know quite a few that have played matches with small fractures in the hands and fingers, but looking at his reaction when he did it, it could be more than a small fracture.

The way Farah Grabbed it straigh away made me think it was fairly well Broken ,

the fact that the played on made me think it may not be that bad

I have experienced Both hand injuries :

a broken metacarpal x 1

and on another occasion a fractured Scaphoid + fractured matercarpal

When i broke the metacarpal , i instantly lost mobility and function in my entire hand , and there is no way i could have played on

When i suffered the fractures, i didnt know it happened for 2 weeks . I finished a game and afterwards my hand was swollen , but i could still move it quite well , i iced it the swelling came down , some pain remained , but i played on thinking it was a deep bruise that would go away in time , after a couple of weeks and a couple of games it didnt seem to improve , so i had X rays , and the fractures where revealed . In the end i continued to play with the fractures , but wore a splint during games to protect it.

Moral of the story , depending on what it is , and the degree of the damage , he could still play on .

The scaphoid is in the wrist, I had a fractured one for months - non union, needed a bone graft…I now have some of my pelvis in my wrist....the swelling in Robbies hand was right on the back of his hand

Nice of the club to inform members & supporters whats going on.
All they have done today is alerted the media how many messages have been posted on the ''Have your say" section to the story on Friday nights game on the official website….get more people clicking on the site...ka-ching.
We are a franchise.

There are a lot of bones in the hand
8 in the palm (carpal bones - think of carpal tunnel)
Then metacarpals -> phalanges (15 bones)
Really depends which one and how much damage is done.

Farah, Ballin shape as finals losses

Manly hooker Matt Ballin could join his Wests Tigers counterpart Robbie Farah as a key finals casualty with both playmakers under injury clouds just two weeks out from the NRL playoffs.

Manly winger David Williams could be another finals absentee with reports suggesting he could be out of football for up to 12 months after suffering a possible anterior cruciate injury.

Farah is likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the season on Tuesday after scans confirmed he fractured his right hand in his team's round 24 loss to Canterbury on Friday.

Ballin went down during the Sea Eagles' big win over Newcastle at Brookvale Oval on Sunday and may have suffered an Achilles injury which could put him out for an extended period.

Williams' knee injury could be the worst case possible.

Farah, Ballin and Williams would be key losses for their respective teams with the Tigers battling to hold onto eighth position and Manly yet to seal a top four spot, with two regular season rounds remaining.

Ballin is just one of several injury worries for the NRL champion Sea Eagles.

Ballin, Jason King (shoulder) Jamie Buhrer (concussion) and David Williams (leg) will all meet with Manly coach Geoff Toovey and club doctor Paul Bloomfield on Tuesday morning to determine the full extent of their injuries after all four players underwent a series of scans on Monday.

Buhrer shapes as a replacement for Ballin if the tough No.9 is forced out. Despite being knocked out against the Knights, one-time NSW utility Buhrer is expected to be fit for Manly's crucial round 25 clash with Brisbane on Friday night.

But NSW State of Origin hooker Farah shapes as the most notable omission from the NRL final series, should the Tigers qualify. They face lowly Sydney Roosters on Sunday at Allianz Stadium and Melbourne at Leichhardt Oval in the final round.

"We are still waiting for the full report on Robbie," a Tigers official told AAP.

"We are not sure but he might have to see a specialist but we should know the full extent of it tomorrow."

Robbie probably won't play this week however if we lose I think he will be on the field at leichhardt, as for the remainder of the finals series obviously.

I fractured my metacarpal very badly in an unfortunate and unlike myself manner 2 years ago due to some prick spitting on my girlfriend for not dancing with him, he then yelled "enjoy the hep" and laughed. Basically I put my hand through his head, but also put my knuckle within 4cm of my wrist. However, if he's done a metacarpal and it doesn't need an operation, then it's normally just a splint for 4-6 weeks. Now, I'm actually not sure if the league could legally allow him to take the field ie. concussion rules, etc. but I'm sure they would have some law (maybe due to insurance) that prevents a player with a known break to start a game. I believe if he had an injection and decent movement of the hand he would be fine. I was operated on then put in a splint but due to having to work I would take it off sometimes and it wasn't comfortable, but defenately can be done.

Hahaha, I can't stand 'spitters' or blokes that disrespect chicks - so good job.

Back to Farah - I hope he rests up this week and returns next week for the storm.

Punching someone in the head is about the same as punching a brick wall and I don't think Robbie's injury is the same kind of break. Most likely a crush injury and it really depends on the grade of break, we can only speculate until scans come out tomorrow really
