Farah hand

The way Farah Grabbed it straigh away made me think it was fairly well Broken ,

the fact that the played on made me think it may not be that bad

I have experienced Both hand injuries :

a broken metacarpal x 1

and on another occasion a fractured Scaphoid + fractured matercarpal

When i broke the metacarpal , i instantly lost mobility and function in my entire hand , and there is no way i could have played on

When i suffered the fractures, i didnt know it happened for 2 weeks . I finished a game and afterwards my hand was swollen , but i could still move it quite well , i iced it the swelling came down , some pain remained , but i played on thinking it was a deep bruise that would go away in time , after a couple of weeks and a couple of games it didnt seem to improve , so i had X rays , and the fractures where revealed . In the end i continued to play with the fractures , but wore a splint during games to protect it.

Moral of the story , depending on what it is , and the degree of the damage , he could still play on .

When I saw the swelling after the end of the first half of golden point I was praying it was only a burst blood vessel , they swell like no ones business sometimes

But from Robbie's reaction when it first happened guessed it was far worse

Robbie probably won't play this week however if we lose I think he will be on the field at leichhardt, as for the remainder of the finals series obviously.

No way. If he can be needled up and cause no further damage, he must play this weekend.

Results have gone our way and we need only worry about Canberra. We win this weekend and barring an absolute miracle, we are in the 8.

Farah can then rest against the Storm. The time for gambling has arrived.

I tend to agree.

If its so bad and a week will make a difference I can understand… Possibly we will feel We can aim up and beat the roosters even without Robbie.... will he really be any better with only 1 week off though ? Or are we hoping we beat roosters without him... And then that gets us 8th... We then keep him rested against storm so he at least has 2 weeks off which may help for final assault in semis ?

However, If we don't beat the roosters, barring a miracle we will have to beat the storm although it seems almost certain we only need to win 1 of final 2 games .

I feel I'd much rather make sure we give ourselves every chance of getting the win against the roosters and Robbie will greatly enhance this chance providing he can perform with his hand... I guess either way he would be needled up ? I'm no expert... Maybe he's no chance...

We beat the roosters.... That should guarantee a spot in finals.. Maybe we can rest Robbie if that extra week will make a difference.

It's been a crazy year but even at the start. A pass mark for me was making the 8..Always the minimum . If we make the 8 with all the issues we have I will be ok with this....once we make the 8, who knows we may have another gear... I've seen some signs we are improving and if Lawrence comes back and can perform well from the get go we suddenly could present trouble to the 5th place team.... Now, it's not impossible that we could finish 7th if we win both our games also.

Some of you may think i'm silly for what i maybe think ,but depending on how bad his injury is ? i would have him on the bench vs the Roosters and use him only if required , if we are winning then Farah would not be required .
But then again i'm no medico so who am i to suggest , it's only a thought. Needle him up if no further damage could be caused .
If Farah is gone for the year , i think we can kiss it goodbye . Farah is crucial to everything we do on the field.

Robbie will be out for the next 2\. We can muscle up against roosters and win. I rather have Robbie for finals

It is understood Robbie Farah hasn't given up hope of playing this year, despite the Wests Tigers skipper fracturing his hand in the loss to Canterbury last Friday.

He is expected to elaborate on the severity of his injury when he fronts the media at their Concord headquarters this afternoon.

I am getting on a bit, but didn't we have a game against Souths at LO a few years back and IF we won that we would have made the semi's and Robbie needed a needle in the leg for that game and they put the needle in the wrong spot or something and made his leg pretty much numb and he had to come off ? We lost the game too.

If he has to get needled again, let's hope it is done properly and the hand does not get any further damage.

If we bulldogs were not awarded try then game may have not gone to extra time where robbie then broke his hand

Just updated on WTV, sounds like we _might_ have Robbie back for the finals, but he'll be below his best if we do.

http://www.weststigers.com.au/news-display/Robbie-Farah-injury-update/62215

Inspirational Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah has not given up hope of playing again this season despite the risk of taking the field with a broken right hand.
>
Farah said a specialist informed him he had a broken bone in his hand in a couple of places and that an operation was not an option at the moment. He suffered the injury in the opening minutes of the first half of extra-time in the controversial loss to the Bulldogs last Friday night.
>
The NSW hooker even asked if he could play this Sunday against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium but was swiftly told he was ‘no chance’. The specialist informed him a broken hand normally takes around six weeks to heal in a cast.
>
With Wests Tigers sitting in eighth place, Farah says it really is case of taking it one week at a time.
>
“Hopefully the boys can do well over the next two weeks and if we get that chance to play in the semi-finals, I will do everything I can to get out there and try to help them,’’ Farah said.
>
“I would have to have a needle to play. If I do make that decision, I need to make sure I am going out to improve the team and not go out and play busted and not play well. I don’t want to let the boys down in that sense."

He will play before the finals and perhaps even this weekend.

We have the advantage of knowing exactly what is required with the Canberra match being played on Friday night.

That's very noble of him. I think, rest up Robbie and do what's best for you. The team will back up this week with a win.

That's true. Hoping for a big Bulldogs win.

I'll wait to see the Bulldogs side first - Dashing Des may rest a few after such a hard hit out last week - a loss isn't going to hurt them and Canberra slipping in to the 8 instead of Tigers would be welcomed by other 7 sides.

A rather brash statement to be making in light of the press release.

Des has named the top side so hopefully they take Canberra apart.

I would much rather face Canberra than Tigers in the finals. We look too dangerous when we perform well
