Farah needs to put the club first in 2017

A lot can and will happen between now and next SOO can't see the point in even discussing it atm - other than to ruffle some feathers.

So it's ruffling feathers by suggesting we will need him through the Origin period? The supposed anti Farah brigade lobby to have Farah playing for the club yet it's considered to be trolling? Isn't that what you've been arguing for the last 9 months?

The big question here is,what happens if Robbie gets a substantial offer for ESL next year and takes it??..
I honestly think some of us are jumping the gun a bit, there is a lot of ifs and buts between now and next year,we have been unfortunate that Ballin hasn't been on the paddock much due to his surgery and it not being ready yet….I feel that JT and the football operations staff have a genuine plan in place that we are not privy to at the moment, that being whether or not Ballin will be 100 percent by then or they have plans on bloodding Liddle gradually between now and then..there would definitely be something in the future planning ,we just don't know which way they will decide to go...If RF stays and he plays SOO but comes off the bench for us as he has been sobeit..he could get injured and not play for weeks as well, where will we be then??

What happens if Farah leaves?
After the month long party you mean?

As he is no longer the captain of WT I don't see what the fuss is about. Woods being the capt should be asked this question first. If it is good enough for the capt to double up then why not a lesser being.

Veterans are allowed to retire from rep duties, but others are not.

Why do you hate Farah so much? Every time someone posts about Farah you have to chime in with some juvenile comment like the one above. He was offered a back ended contract by the club. Regardless of whether he's worth what we are paying him it's not the point. We offered him a contract and we signed it. I bet if you were in his position you'd be hanging around. Enough already.

Jamie Lyon…?

What does being captain a Club level have to do with anything...NSW are looking to Woods as a future leader...

Retiring from Rep footy wont be an issue for Farah...

I take it your not a morning person.
Lighten up a bit

I would not lose sleep over it GNR, I doubt he will be picked next year anyway.

As for putting the origin before his club, id really like to know where that has come from?

I remember Farah playing injured in the middle of last year series at Leichhardt which ruled him out of game 3?

Selfish stuff wasnt it.

I almost said, "with the notable exception of Jamie Lyon." Admittedly, Lyon did play for NSW between 2002 & 2010\. That's a fair while, even if he only played in 10 matches.

No it's ruffling feathers because you are well aware that there is a sentiment amongst those who are anti Farah that he puts SOO ahead of his club. Players are not responsible for managing how there clubs cope during the rep period and neither should Farah be.
Nor should his allegiance to his club be questioned anymore than any other veteran who makes himself available for selection at rep level.
By the way never once mentioned trolling so not sure where you are pulling that one from.

That fact has never fitted too well with the selfish charge that has been levelled at him here.
IMO he's fully earned anything what he's paid , just by playing and having to put up with some of the rubbish players that sometimes has surrounded him in this club.
No wonder he tries to do too much at times, he'd be so used to some who have
The work ethic of a wombat, that he's now used to it.

Small brains deal in back ended contracts. That goes for players, player managers and club officials.

Farah has mentioned that it was done so other players at the time could be signed or re-signed. The downside to back ended contracts is that the exact same signing dilemna will still occur - except to other players a few years later.

I'm one of those "Farah haters with an agenda"

However, I think that Farah in his two games off the bench has shown us more gumption and purchase than his last 18 months as an "80 minute hooker"

If Farah can do exactly what he has been doing off the bench AND drop the backstage politicking behind the scenes, with Liddle getting gentle amounts of game time over the next 12 months, then I'm happy to have him stay - even though he would be eating 900k of the cap.

Both those conditions would be a non negotiable for me.

The $900k is the issue. We need to have a good look at the players we have and pay the right amount to the right players. I read an article about Penrith paying Tamou $800k per season and stating how stupid it was. We need to think along the same lines.

We have to pay the players that we are overpaying what we've said we will unless they leave but past that point those contracts need to stop. So Robbie gets to play next year and play SOO if he gets picked and he wants too but that should be his last season with us.

If he still playing excellently in 2017 and no off field flare ups (that were started by Club) then why if needed can't Robbie in 2018 play for example for e.g. approx. $400 per annum or whatever - could be in the Club's best interest?

No Mate! we want to go forward, not backward. It will be time for Liddle in 2018.

If he is the best option and we are getting him at a discount and we get rid of Taylor then I say yes.

I can't see all of those options though occurring at the same time.

The only thing he has not excelled in is at coaching, I have no idea if he is interested, though having a uni degree he is probably not interested. I would love to see him have a short stint at it, knowing his serious professional attitude he would want to avoid a failure on his record so would give all, even if only for half or one season. And does it for peanuts to repay the club a little.

Lots of people have uni degrees, it's not like they're some magical ticket to a secure, high-paying job. His profile and past career will open up far more opportunities for him than his uni degree.
