Farah on bench

We're not talking about a 20 year old rookier… Farah is an experienced player who's played grand finals, tests, and origin. I'm sure he's up to starting the game.

I think if Farah is kept in reserve it will be two fold in reason.

1) The obvious to keep him fresher but I would question whether Buhrer has the passing game to move the pigs forward.
2) Partially for reason 1 but just in case pearce or Carney craps their dacks and isn't up for the game

If Farah is benched to start the game, Stuart will realise his mistake soon enough when the dummyhalf service becomes second rate.

As much as I think Stuart and co. are useless, I really can't see them going into an Origin game with Jamie Buhrer as a starting 9.

How does Fulton keep his place on the Blues selection staff ?
He's failed NSW time and time again ….... and yet he is still there.

I'm with you, i find it hard to believe. Especially if Buhrer was picked as a utility.

Maybe I'm not looking in the right area, or maybe its been changed back….

But looks to me like Robbie is starting with Ferris on the bench?

So its probably just someone on the web team playing silly buggers, maybe a NSW v QLD division in the office haha!

Pros- 1 Prevent Farah making 50 tackles
2 Farah comes on when markers are getting tired
3 qld interchanges may create confusion in defence and opportunities for Farah

Cons 1- Hard to adjust to feel and pace of game as a hooker off the bench
2- Robbie loses the chance to bide his time, watch and wait for opportunities
3- Farah may be tempted to overplay his hand off the bench
4- Losing the no. 9 would be a mental blow for Robbie- or any hooker

I actually think this is a positive way of easing Robbie back into Origin.

With all the media attention on him over the last couple of week - he would have been a massive focus for the QLD game plan early in the piece (Target Farah, sledge him etc etc), as well as the comentators and media.

This way - with Farah out of the first 20 minutes exchanges, by the time he gets onto the field the game is on its way and his entry wont be as big a deal.

I think if Ricky actually didn't care for Robbie's future origin ambitions - he would have thrown him in from the start and IF Robbie failed to shine, would be vindicated for his criticsm of Robbie.

Take this as a positive.

The game could also be well and truly over by the time Robbie gets on if Buehrer starts

Crazy… Dont remember benny elias starting off the bench back in the day.. He was similar to what robbie is now

If this is true, I think it is an insult to Farah. Fancy starting the game with a debutante utility in the hooking position, rather than the best actual hooker NSW have got. What a disgrace!

It's one thing to use an impact player off the bench, another thing to use an integral part of the team structure as a substitute.

There is no way a bench start would benefit Farah's game or the team rythm, it would only upset the flow at the start of the game when you actually need a solid start carrying on from drills and training.
