Farah Set To Miss Blues No 9 To Dean Young

I dont care who they pick where so long as we win.
Given we've lost the last 4 series there should be no favouritism shown for incumbents.
New year, new era, new team

5 series Fraze, 5….. Go Queensland!!!

Young is the 16th best hooker in the NRL. Farah,Ennis,De Gois,Ballin,Friend,Luke,Fien,Payne,Waddell etc all better. He throws Harbour Bridge passes from dummy-half. He is THE worst player to ever represent Australia and that will carry over to S.O.O. Daddy must be proud

I am not one to defend Stuart but on this occasion I reckon he has been verballed by a press writer after a headline.

argh! i just know the nsw team is gonna have way too many st george players… morris, scott, weyman, creagh n now young. honestly the only one id have would be weyman. just coz bennett talks them all up doesnt mean they r good enough for origin!!! n ricky stuart pull ur head in. this is the bloke that wanted pearce as captain at aged 21\. he is a deadset clown. for hooker id have **farah, ennis, de gois, then young.**

I'd also throw in Kevin Kingston

Kingston is a Queenslander

young wont even play hooker for dragons this year so how can you pick him for nsw there. i wouldn't though mind him on the bench as the utility rather than gidley

This. When Fien is out there Young hides in the second row with that cat Ben Creagh. I'd have punted Young and kept Priddis from retiring.

Farah was pretty poor at SOO and he has a couple of critical errors / lapses in judgement in him every couple of games. He also has the ability to create opportunities and he can win games for his team. If he gets rid of the poor options he is probably the best hooker in the game. I think NSW have to give him a fair go because he is a player who could turn around NSW's run of losses.

I would pick Farah at 9 Hayne at 6 Dugan at 1 and probably Carney at 7\. The biggest question is Hayne at 6 but in my opinion he needs to be in a key position.

Stuart is a terrible coaching option for NSW. He often comes across as a moron in the media, he comes across as a terrible coach and to top it off I doubt he has any idea how to pick a team that can win. I would not be surprised if he chooses a team of backrowers and instructs them to hit it up the guts on every play.

i like your idea trying to get Dugan in, however, hayne at 6 is not an option, He played there in 09 for parra, and was a disgrace.
I think that in the modern game, wing is a fairly key spot, and Hayne's best spot in origin. I think he is a little lazy off the ball for fullback. With the ball in hand best in the game, but that is only 5% of the time.

As for young at hooker, i cant believe that, Saints look ordinary until Priddis or Fein take over at dummy half. Young is a good backrower.

I hate the assumption that niggling players and tough players are suited to origin, it is a myth, quality players are suited to origin, especially in the key spots!

All I hear is that NSW needs to be more aggressive than Queensland. They pick aggressive players and concede dumb penalties, make silly mistakes and don't threaten the Queensland defence and wonder how we will score points. We need to pick a side that is tough, yet skillful enough. Young could be the bench option Gidley is always picked for. Gidley just gets in the way when there isn't an injury. You don't pick a player for an injury.

I'm not bagging the thread owner but is there any evidence that Ricky actually said that? Please forgive if I may have missed something.

Also, if Ricky did say that, it's one of the most stupid things for a coach to speak about team selections in public months before the Origin. But, if Robbie hears this, hopefully he takes motivation from this so much that he makes it impossible for the Blues to overlook him.

I can't say for the the original poster but I distinctly remember Stuart saying in his Daily Telegraph column last year after game 2 or 3 that he would have Dean Young at Hooker because of his 'toughness'.

if robbie does not get picked for the blues, to be honest its far better for wests-tigers.
this may come across as selfish.
playing in origin, contributes nothing to ensuring your team makes the finals.
yes it is an hounour, but the ultimate goal each season is to play in a premiership winning team.
if rep honours come along then so be it.

Will Young even play much hooker for the Dragons this year? I would expect to see Fien playing the most minutes.

Anyone else read the Foxsports article this morning by Daley that Gidley is a victim of NSW's poor form and has to be in the squad?

What an utter n00b

AGREE SMEG!! Based on that article doesn't that make all the players victims. Gidley's been the one constant through NSW losing streak! Get him out of there and start playing specialists in their preferred positions! Starting with Farah! He might not be a knock em over style defender, but that's not his job, he's meant to have props next to him doing that.
It's probably no wonder that some of my younger friends support the queenslanders. :bawling

Best hookers in the NRL.. Farah, Smith & Luke.
The rest are mehhhh @ best.

I think Dugan is too good to leave out and he has to be at 1 as I can't see him being versatile enough to play elsewhere. Hayne has to be in the game. As you state with the ball in hand he is awesome (I think he is as good as Benji).

Farah should be at 9\. He has the ability to be an absolute gun. I am less sold on Carney than the other 3 but I can't think of a better option. Those 4 plus a good pack of forwards (which we have) plus fast strong outside backs (which we have) and we have a chance.

Stuart will stuff it though. I am not a gambler but I'd put money on it.

This is a gee up story. The best player will get the spot when the time comes. I'm expecting that will be R.Farah. But hey, I am not biased.

When Fat Albert (Craig Young) was named as NSW Team Manager (despite his appalling handling of the Tahu-Johns saga last year) - Dean was always a special!!!

I thought it would be at bench back-rower - but my mail is the same as that in RLW!!!

I cannot understand how a bloke who is not even the starting no. 9 at his club could take the spot - but it is Ricky, Young & Carr we're dealing with!!!

In my opinion if Farah starts the year well he will get the 9 for NSW. He should have been starting hooker for the blues since 2006, just shows how ordinary our selectors are.

If Young gets the nod over him this year I will not even bothering watching this years SOO. When I lived in Queensland they laughed at our selectors leaving out the likes of Farah every year.
