Farah's Groin Super Thread

A little bird (usually reliable) told me that Farah's groin is a real problem. He'll play this weekend then have surgery and be out for 6 weeks. Anyone else heard anything? What's with groins at this club???? Maybe the club could get a bulk discount if all affected players got them operated on at the same time!!

Been common knowledge for a while, surgery has been delayed while the club is under so much pressure with injuries. You will notice Hyland and the bloke we got from the Knights Naderia have been involved in pre match warm ups. My guess they will keep him away from the knife for a few more weeks depending on results. I was also told they are looking at up to ten weeks on the side lines, but the bloke who told me was no medico so who knows

Keep hearing this everywhere.

If this is true we are honestly F'd.

What makes you think its true

I am not saying it is true, but I've heard whispers for a while. Where there is smoke there is fire.

BTW, as if Farah would admit it on national TV, even if it was true. That quote means nothing.

I'm guessing the other guys warm-up because as Farah himself says, once it is warm it's fine but it cause problems until that moment. So there is a slight chance it won't warm up properly and he'd be a withdrawal. Doesn't mean it will happen or even that it is likely to happen.

I don't want to disparage the little bird but it doesn't make sense to me that you'd play this week and then have surgery. Surely it's either bad enough to have surgery now or the surgery can wait. It's not like there are players due back next week.

Sounded like a direct answer to a direct question. Basically you're saying Farah lied when he gave his answer?

You would think if it was that dicey ….surgery would happen straight away......why prolong the so called inevitable...

I was told at first they were trying to get through to after SOO series than have the op and be back for the very back end of the season, than they decided that was impossible and if they wrapped him in cotton wool they should be able to last another couple of weeks till Gibbs,Ellis,Lui and maybe Fulton are back on deck

If this was true, do you honestly think that Farah would come out and openly say "yeah the groin is bad at the moment, and I'm just holding off on surgery for a couple of weeks until we get some hands back on deck."

Honestly?

Not beyond the realms of possibility. There are several good reasons for Farah playing the injury down:

a) Never let the opposition know about a niggling injury unless you want a red bead on your head;

b) Fans will flip when and if they find out Farah needs surgery and will be out for an extended period - no need to stress us out until it is absolutely necessary;

c) Belive it or not, Farah would want to believe that he can play thorugh the injury, and delay/avoid surgery. I am sure he is telling himself every day it will be ok.

These are just a couple of reasons. I think it is blatantly obvious Farah is well below par at the moment.

There goes SOO for 2011 for Farah!…That grub Ennis gets another chance!....I'm afraid if Farah continues to miss out on SOO he may be out of the team for good!.

If mid season surgery was inevitable he would get it immediately. There is no sense in delaying for any reason.
If he was getting surgery next week, he would have got it this week

My take with no knowledge is that surgery may be necessary if it doesn't improve or it gets worse, they must be trying to avoid surgery otherwise he would have jsut gone and got it….

Exactly what I was saying last Sunday when the thread first started why would you tell everyone your closed to Surgery He would of got targetted

heard the same rumour about the groin needing surgery but also an ongoing problem with his hip labrum. eventually he will need surgery on that also. i would book him in now given everyone else is out…

Tendonitis can be managed through both rest and painkillers . Maybe when we get a few back and rested him on either side of byes he may get thru til end of season and surgery then if required Byes are round 9 and 17 ???
