Farewell and thank you Corey

Thank you Corey for all your efforts at Wests Tigers. You may have been small in stature but you had the heart of a giant. You gave the club your absolute best and represented them as a true professional. Whilst I am sorry to see you leave, I wish nothing but the best for you and your family for the future both on and off the field. Thanks for the memories Champ.

Good on you Corey, we're proud of you and you should be proud of yourself.

Sad to see him go, but if he has to go I'm glad it's to a battling club like the Titans - he's a great pick up for them.

Anyone see the snake Mattersons comment on his insta post? Think he’s deleted it now as can’t find it anymore

It was something along the lines of: player’s player last year and they have no use for him this year 🤔

Ouch that's a bit of a jerk move

Wow, such sour grapes from that guy.
Why does he still care? We let the bludger Matterson go?

Cant blame the club, blame the NRL for changing the contest rules and taking small wingers out of the game.

If anything club should be applauded for letting him go to pursue a longer term, better deal immediately.

He's probably a close mate... Can't disagree with what he's said

Maybe. If he was a close mate, he should be happy for Corey that he got a long term gig in his home state.
Others have suggested there might have been something more to Matterson's leaving, and I think that very possible though of course we'll never know.

Great player in that he got all the juice out of the lemon each week.

So, who’s his replacement?

I doubt the next recruit will be better than CT

Bad call WT's ..unless you have an upgrade on Thompson lined up the Forum as a whole unanimously preferred him over Mbye who will be the next back up for Douehi

I'll only be happy he's going if we get a player that gives as much as CT and MORE... There's plenty behind Corey here that should be going before him

Depends how it happened I guess. Was he shopped around, or did GC want him and we chose not to stand in the way? If it was to let him have more of an opportunity than he would have got here, and if he was happy, that seems all good to me. If he was shopped around and told he wasn't wanted, that would be a different matter.

Corey gave his all, every time he played for us.
Happy he played with us, and happy he makes a go of it elsewhere.
He deserves some good $$$ and the longer contract.

Corey Thompson will depart Wests Tigers effective immediately after agreeing to a long-term deal with another NRL club.

Thompson joined Wests Tigers from Widnes Vikings in Super League ahead of the 2018 season and went on to score nine tries in 20 games for the club that year.

Playing primarily on the wing, the Queensland-born Thompson would go on to play 22 games the following year and featured in the opening two games this season prior to the competition being temporarily suspended in March.

The 30-year-old will depart Wests Tigers having scored 19 tries in 44 games, and paid credit to the club, its staff and fans during his time in Wests Tigers colours.

“I wanted to say thank you to all the Wests Tigers Members and fans for all the support and faith you’ve shown in me,” Thompson said.

“To the club, I wanted to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to come back from England and I’ve loved every second running out there and representing Wests Tigers. I wish the team nothing but success this year and thank you for everything.”

@WestsTigers
? A message from Corey Thompson...

“I wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the support and faith you’ve shown in me.

“I’ve loved every second running out there and representing Wests Tigers. I wish the team nothing but success this year and thank you for everything.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe wished Thompson and his family all the best in the future.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, I’d like to thank Corey for his professionalism and commitment to the club over the past two-and-a-half years,” Pascoe said.

“Corey has always carried himself tremendously well on and off the field and has been a great example of the core values that this club is known by.

“The chance for him to head home to Queensland for the first time in his career on a long-term deal is a valuable opportunity for him and his family. I’d like to thank him for his service to Wests Tigers and we wish both he and his partner Sarah all the best in the future.”

You would have though Madge could have said something, even just a one liner... Think he was owed that.

Considering he embodies the attitude that Maguire is apparently trying to build he was definitely owed that. I'm sorry to see him go. He definitely played with heart and left it all on the field. I'm glad to see another team could see the positives and are prepared to give him a spot. Good on you Corey, rip in!
