Fav TIGERS, Past & Present

Past (I'm a Balmain boy):
**Garry Jack** - he was a superb fullback. Hard runner, great tackler, loved him.
**Ellery Hanley** - In the late 80's Ellery was hands down the best player in the world. Absolutely top echelon. He could shuffle sideways faster than most players could run forward. A Great.

I must say I always thought Gary Freeman was fantastic and when considering great halfbacks of the 80's/90's he's hugely under-rated… (how we could use him now!) Loved the Wiz!

Present:
**Benji** - In my opinion Benji is quite simply the greatest player the Wests Tigers have ever had (or Balmain for that matter).
There are some old Magpies players who might compare to Benji in terms of greatness, but not Tigers in my opinion.
Having said that, Ellery is definitely up there and perhaps Arthur Beetson (Beetson's Balmain days weren't really what he was remembered for).

1st string - Brasher, Sirro, Roach, Pearce, Elias, Hanley
2nd string - Senter, Oneill, Hardwick, Benji, farah

For me, Brasher in full flight is still the best running back weve had in a long time. Great under the high ball then would carve up the defense

balmain ; ellery hanley ( of course ! ), garry jack, blocker, sirro, junior, benny, the black flash and way back.. geoff starling ( first saw this guy against the dragons at the scg as a kid and he carved em' up )

wests tigers ; benji, who will be one THE greats of league, robbie, hodgo, prince and tuiaki

Present - Lawrence
Past - Gary Freeman, Garry Jack, Tim Brasher, Mark Geyer, Graham Lyons, Paul Sironen, Matt Munro, Mick Neil, Scott Prince, Darren Senter, Shane Walker, Jacin Sinclair

Scott Hardy from the Magpies in the 90's and Kerry Hemsley from the Balmain Tigers in the 80's and Aaron Woods from his NYC days, I was a bit of a long haired, big bearded but talentless player back in my Group 10 days so always appreciated a player a little bit different from the norm!.

New Tigers: Benji (perhaps the best player ever to play for Wests/Balmain/WT), Toddy and Gareth
Old Magpies: Hodgo (our club's heart and soul), Kevin McGuinness, Jason Taylor.
Next Gen: Jake Mullaney.

past, benny, sirro, block, junior, wiz, brasher, and TnT now :frowning:. Really liked Senter as well.

present, benji, robbie, payton, lote

Past…....... Raudonikis

Present......Farah

Wow Mick Neil!!! There's a blast from the past!!! For a scrawny ginger headed guy he had a lot of heart about him!!!

Yeah he sure did Luke.

Tough as nails and a big motor.

Such a shame he got ankle tapped in the 89 GF, he deserved to score the try that won us that game…..oh well.

Marshall is the best player I have ever seen wearing our colours. Heighton, Prince, TNT and Ellis. (Lawrence and Galloway in a couple years time)

Being a Western Suburbs supporter - John Donnelly (bled black and white) Tommy Raundonkis, Terry Lamb, John Dorothy, Graeme O'Grady, Michael Neil, Les Boyd, Jason Taylor and Brett Hoggo.

Balmain - Brasher, Sirro, Blocker, Cowora, Jack and Junior.

Future Stars - Simon Dwyer, Andrew Fifita and Aaron Woods.

You got that right Mafia about tom terrific.
Wasnt scared to rough up those big fat props too.And we all know how he treated his opposition 7's.
He was best i saw in my time when Wests Magpies were alive…I am Cogger

Loved watching Mick Neil play! But Sirro is my all time fav from the past and as Stryker said - " + all the usual suspects"

Present - that's like trying to pick a favourite child - have to go with ALL of them! :sign:

No jesting mate. I cant remember Roudonikis, so he doesnt even enter the eqaution for me. When i think of Wests magpies games i actually paid attention too, Kennedy was one of those unsung heroes. He was a fast and powerful backrower who could match it with anyone on his day. He summed up the battling Mapies for me, thats why he's my fave.

Get yourself some Raudonikis era videos and enjoy Tiger.
If he played for Tigers you would have won many more tiitles.
Kennedy??????Not good enough to tie Toms bootlaces.
