Yeah you still needed to keep a feasible level comp in between both compsGlad to read this, I didn't know of the review - But it was bleatingly obvious....
Those 20 year old kids thought they were all going to be superstars.
I had a 20's kid working for me for a few years, Playing at another club....
He was certain he was headed to first grade. Had an uncle with somewhat of a Footy career...
While he was killing it in 20's (He really was),
I'd seen enough footy to know he wasn't headed much further.
He was a young kid, hours away from home (And his old man) was an anxious time observing
him through it all....
It got to the point where he hadn't heard from anyone, His manager didn't seem to care and he was in the wilderness for a bit.... Really got to him - affected his work - everything.
I finally got him up enough to him have a chat to the NRL head coach about his future, And they gave him some love for a bit after that then had the chat with him that we kinda knew was coming...
Tough to watch him go from hero to zero and nurse him through it a bit.
These Polynesian kids that are a million miles away from family support, very easy to see how they might get lost.
I couldn't believe it when the 20's seemingly took priority over reserve grade comp,
Was a double edged sword - It effectively turned 19/20 year olds into some sort of rock stars
- And broke the spirit of the older guys who had done the miles and were there or there abouts by sending them back to a level of game / exposure slightly above park footy...
to play in front of no-one.
Was a backward step for mine, Most of the 20's kids just won't make it for one reason or another... And you need to keep the reserve grade relevant for the 20's and Ressies that do.
Reggie's or Under 23/25'sNot sure what you're saying?
Something that got TV coverage and was available for Saturday and Sunday Live viewingThat bit was clear - What do you mean by a "feasible level" comp?
How dare you!!! The pretzel was the first one named every round. Here is the controversy ....Fitzie ....fringie or does he qualify as a regular
I think Milton’s only got a couple of games because related to a sponsor.HopelessThe worst two centres I have ever seen are a Nathan Milone and Delouise Hoeter.
Maybe do 2 games televised ....1 Saturday and one Sunday ...more important to fans at games...see the fellas live who are coming through ....the NYC was always going to struggle ..should have made it Under 22 and given players longer to developWith 8 NRL most weeks, There's no appetite for it - Or time to schedule it.
Especially with Reserve grade, As they play similar times to first grade.
Will end up like cricket - victim of overexposure.
This discussion was more around the effect of elevating a kids comp with TV coverage / advertising and the negative effects it was having on the kids.
While banishing the senior reserves comp to suburban grounds wastelands and the effect it was having on the players playing ressies and in turn - filtering up to the NRL.
Yeah probably half an hour after they were supposed to clock on 😂All Kiwis ....Council Workers and Jetstar employees say Hi lol
What about the recently departed Junior Pauga? Lacked all the basics, didn't even know the rules. The worst two centres I have ever seen are a Nathan Milone and Delouise Hoeter.
