Vossy asked a bunch of players on his show, The Fan.

What is your favourite childhood rugby league memory?

For me, I use to love watching the games and seeing all the jerseys.
Use to the think they were the best.
Especially Tigers and the bears jerseys.

Then I remember the 05 GF also and just how exciting the tigers were across the field.

Wests v Souths at Lidcombe oval.
The game with the kids sitting on the bike track because the crowd was too big. It was the game where George Piggins scored his pinball try.
Great game and I was there with my cousin Joe, sitting in "Marlboro country" eating "peanuts in a shell, sugar coated peanuts 40 cents".
Those Sunday afternoons at Lidcombe with my cousin are still some of the highlights of my life.

Weren’t too many as a Magpies fan growing up. Andrew Willis’ field goal against the Bears from half way on full time that propelled Wests into the finals is the obvious answer. As for the early WT’s years, would have to be another night at Ctown in 2001. When we came back from 24-0 and 32-12 to beat the Knights. That was the game Kevin McGuinness made his comeback from a drug suspension and scored the match winner. Owen Craigie also played the game of his life. Winning the game almost single handedly.

being a 7 year old kid through '05 was pretty special. being right on top of Benji Marshall's airswing, line break and then completely standing up Darius Boyd in the 2011 Qualifying Final was pretty special too.

even little things, like the night Brooks and Tedesco dismantled the Souths side in 2014 that went on to win the comp that year. being extremely proud walking away from the game after the 2010 prelim final after the refs dudded us with the Jeremy Smith-Tuqiri incident. beating the cowboys at Leichhardt in 2016 and genuinely believing we were off to the finals that year. that's only a couple but yeah, there's a few. even this year with Cini's debut was pretty special. called in sick at work the next day as I said it might be the last time we win this year and celebrated accordingly.

I remember going to Lidcombe Oval for a night game against France.
1968 I think it was.....

Great atmosphere, Tony Ford kicking long range goals.....

Ellery Hanley debut for Balmain in 1988 at Leichardt Oval against Penrith.
As a 10 year old can remember they shut the gates and the hill was jammed packed.
Big win, next year became a season ticket holder

Any game in the 70s at Lidcombe Oval. Always great expectation.
2005 semi against the Dragons.

I think there was a 3 year period where we didn't lose a home game.

Tony Ford. I had his footy card and I was so upset when that new young bloke John Dorahy took his place.

JD was a pretty good replacement though.....

I'm drinking coffee out of my John Dorahy coffee mug right now. I'd buy a Tony Ford if they made one.

Games at Leichhardt kicking the footy around during the game. Always found to group of kids to play with and of course the race for the corner post after the game.

North Sydney oval and climbing the tree. Just avoid sitting near the band up the other end.

Lots of great times at both grounds as a kid roaming around.

All the rugby league media going ape when Peter Dimond hung one on Fr. John Cootes. I think it was in a City/Country match.

A lot of seem like a long time ago.
Our 2005 season was such enjoyable time in my life ,also our 7’s victory was pretty cool
Some other cherished memories are.
Gordon Tallis belting Ben Ross
Watching Rhys Wesser and Preston Campbell
David Vialeki and his green boots and socks rolled down
The Footy Show in its former glory
NSW blues try celebrations
Alfie Langer coming back for QLD
Lipina Kaufusi going off cause he had a headache
Steve Menzies headgear
Adidas predator boots
Joey Johns kicking a penalty goal from 50 out
Hazem’s buzzer beater against the knights on a Sunday arvo
Shoulder chargers
Too many 😂😂

As a young kid being invited into the players dressing room at Leichhardt after the game. Met my heroes at the time Larry Corowa and Allan Macmahon. Remember being pretty freaked out about everyone walking around naked

Yeah... I was there.. 1976 I think... I was on the bike track.. Great day

Not that it was a memory given I was only 2 however my parents always like to dig up the old pics of me standing on their kitchen bench in Tigers socks, Balmain shorts, Balmain jersey and Balmain beanie having a sneaky swig of my old mans beer.

For me memory wise it was sitting on Dad's shoulders at Leichhardt Oval yelling till I had no voice. The cream of the crop though was 2005. Firstly unfortunately missed out on GF tix only to receive a call from my Dad the day before the game to advise he'd just purchased 4 pallets of beers for his bottle shop solely for the 2 free tix the rep gave him for the purchase. To this day it's the only time I've ever seen my Dad cry and he's in his 70's.
