Wests Tigers are celebrating the history of the Fibros vs Silvertails rivalry when the Club meets Manly on Monday night at Campbelltown Stadium at 7pm.

Re-live the great battles of the 70s in the video above.

Pretty cool video

Learnt what footy and tribalism was all about as a 16yo on the hill at Lidcombe, sneaking Tooheys and watching Tommy & Dallas cause havoc against the silvers around 77/78/79…was very easy to buy into all that as a teenage bogan westy

As a Balmain supporter before the merger, and now a WESTS TIGERS supporter, can all the other former Balmain supporters like me jump in 100% and be a genuine magpie for the week. Lets face it, we all hate Manly and we are all one now. If you were to go back to the days when it was real football and name the best 3 rivalry's that highlighted what football was all about, the 'fibros V silvertails' was definitely right up there, regardless of what club you supported.

So in advance, lets remember the rivalry for what it was (and show the board at least) that us fans can unite as one. I for one don't care for the split talk as if we are conjoined twins or something.

Now. I demand we wear the old magpies jumper and punch the living sh*t out of the eagles, legally or not! ARE YOU WITH ME!!!

I know we go into this game as massive underdogs and aren't expected to have any chance of winning but whilst I can't remember the year (late 80s I think) I went along to Campbelltown to watch Wests play Manly, similar situation with Wests having been written off before kick off, a massive upset with Wests winning and I recall Fulton copping heaps from the maggies supporters as he left the ground. Would absolutely love to see history repeated on Monday night firstly to see manly go down but also to celebrate Liam and Robbie's milestones.

Hard to believe that this is the first time Manly will play at Campbelltown since facing Wests Magpies in 1998 - 15 Years!

They should wear the Pies jumper and to even it up the Balmain one during the Souths game.

Loved these games growing up as a mad magpie game

But with the NRL stance on the biff now , I really just don't see the use of this type of promotion

Very confusing indeed

But will be happy as a pig in poo if a all in erupts

Would love to see that

I must confess, I can’t get worked up about the forthcoming ‘fibro vs silvertails’ match.

Back in the late 1970s, I hated Manly with a passion; I hated the NSWRL for conspiring against the Magpies; and I hated Hartley for conspiring with the NSWRL to conspire against the Magpies.

Manly’s premiership of 1978 is tarnished. The Magpies were duded by Hartley in the semi-final and Parra were duded in the GF.

While it was the most exciting time for me football-wise, the toll on the club and its supporters was massive. The media waged an unrelenting campaign against us; as did the judiciary and the game’s administration. I would never wish to revisit that time again. I would certainly not want to see our team and supporters subjected to that sort of barrage.

So I don’t know what I should be celebrating really. I don’t have any strong feelings for the Manly team of today, and a win over them in the next round will do nothing to make me feel better about what happened all those years ago.

By the way, I notice some colleagues referring to the Magpies and the ‘Pies’. I don’t ever remember them being called the Pies. I always thought the Pies referred to Collingwood.

Not 100% sure of all the names but here goes…

Loved the vision of the "Disco Duck" Buddy Cain taking an intercept and flying down the sideline, goose stepping then stopping then passing to Wayne Smith who duly wet off his left foot and almost lost his head from Stephen Knight.

We lived through an era that will never be repeated.
Great memories, great games, great characters …. Love going for the underdog and nothing's changed. Looking forward to going Monday night ....should be good.

Easy to buy into something that was true. We were treated as second class by the league and Manly absolutely thought they were better than us. Would of been amazing to of been at that trial match in Melbourne in 78.

Funny thing is that with everyone remembering all this we all forget that Wests were actually a very good side through those years not just a bash them side. Masters was a genius at knowing when to let it rip and when to calm things down and play the poor us hand.
