Fifita flattens Marshall

PMSFL

could u guys read into this anymore ?????

try reading between the lines lol…

Its nothing and its not uncommon for team mates to get heated.

Its training and they are showing aggression and passion, to me its nothing but a positive and hope all our other forward take a leaf out of Fifita handbook and show the same amount of hunger and aggression during training and more importantly when they run out week in week out this coming season, if they do we will be doing very well come september.

I wonder what you people would say if he had dislocated Benji's shoulder again?

But that didnt happen, so what do YOU say now?

Just seems silly to me. Some want to be putting our best play-maker in danger in a training session.

I can just imagine the weeping and gnashing of teeth if Marshall was out for six months or more.

He should train as per normal, it's too pessimistic to shelter him at training incase he gets injured when he's at 100%. What if he pulled a hammy in the warm up run? It could happen, maybe we should stop him doing that too.

I think people on this forum need to harden up.. The fact the one football player talking another football player at training even makes the news is a joke.

Ha ha. What does Benji think he's untouchable? Good stuff needs to be more of it!

Couldn't of said it better myself, and i hope this doesn't discourage Fifita from continuing to do things like this it doesn't matter who it is put pressure on them put pressure on the coaching staff let them know your there and you mean business get in their face make them take notice.
Best news i've heard all off season. Keep it up son.

Hey Sabre, I think the post re Robert Louis is meant to be Robert Lui, I'm sure we don't have anyone in the squad called Robert Louis…..

….... and I'm sorry Benji got knocked around a bit, but I'm sure he'll recover, he's in a pretty tough, rough game, and by the sounds of it it may get a bit rougher as the season goes on.....

Exactly.

It amazes me that people still buy into the DT's bullshit.

In other news, an incident like this happened and every other training session this week.

While I'm glad the boys are trying to impress and turning up the intensity at training, I think they should be mindful of silly injuries that may occur when trying to pull of these sorts of tackles. On Fifita, if it was a textbook tackle in the ribs that flattened Marshall then great….a cowboy shoulder charge in training on your 'mates' is out of order. Shoulder charges are intended to hurt the opposition which is probably why Benji was so upset plus the guy is twice his size....just silly IMHO.....I certainly wouldn't have been happy.

We all know Benji aint afraid of any physicality whatsoever so that reiterates the severity of the incident

Both parties need to be aware of level of intensity, Its Cheap and Stupid to put an UNEXPECTED Shot on anyone let a lone the star playmaker.

I love Benji, but sounds like he might of got a bit big for his boots in this incident. I bet Farah wouldn't have got all in Fafita's face about it.

Although young, Andrew Fafita has everything you want from a young prop. By the way he stood out in the under 20's, I think he might be one of those kids that is ready for the challenge of first grade. I'd love to see him on our bench throughout the year. He is a game breaker!

As a ball player, Benji shouldn't be putting himself in a position to be shoulder charged. It ain't netball so well done on AF behalf for showing more guts then Bryce has ever shown.

Do you prefer a forward pack with no Agro?

Some of you people amaze me. You think it is ok for some young player can put a cheap shot on the best player in the club. Let's face it if Benji does not play for the season, we do not go anywhere this year.

I think that Fifita will be a good player, if not this year then soon.

Marshall can take a lot of hard knocks as we have seen over the years, but to think that it is ok to take a shoulder charge or whatever it was, when it is not necessary says a lot about the maturity of some people on this forum and the mental maturity of Fifita. Wise up.

Mental maturity…... ?

You're right, maybe they should just play tag in the pre-season as a way of simulating the rough and tumble that is an NRL season. If Marshal was the cool and mature person you presume some of us on the forum are not, then why the hostile reaction to a new young member of the top 25 squad. Should he also lose his cool in a game if some dares shoulder charge him.

If the facts are as what they were reported (Full contact season) then there is no reason for Andrew to have gone in soft. If the shoulder charge was on, then well done for taking it. In a game situation, the shoulder charge is discouraged because it may not be effective. However if the kid has a Sonny Bill like weapon on him (Timing and power) then he shoudl use it.

Just as it upset Benji, it'll have the same effect on opposition teams and will lift morale in our own team. I'd rather have two Fifita's (Hey... we actual do) then two Bryce Gibbs in my team.

Firstly, Benji aint the be all and all of this team/club. He probably cost us as many games as he won last year. I actually think for the first time we could do very well even without him on the field…touch wood he plays every game though as he is an integral part of our team.
Secondly, who said it was a cheap shot? Benji was probably trying to exploit Fafita's size with a step, but Fafita read him perfectly and landed a good shot. Nothing cheap about a spot on shoulder charge. We don't know the scenario and can only speculate, but be careful speculating about the maturity of Fafita and myself.

I maintain Benji over stepped the mark shaping up to a young teammate for what would be considered a good hit in any game of league and I'm sure just about every other bloke in the sqaud would have got up, dusted themselves off and went looking to get one back.
All that said I don't think there is much in it at all. Boys will be boys in the heat of things.

I would rather one fit Marshall than two fit Fifita's anyday.
