Fifita to Sharks?

If the 350 grand a year is close to the mark, than Fifita would be brain dead not to take the sharks dollars and the Tigers would be be brain dead to enter the auction. Andrew is a good talent but if your trying to balance your books and win a title 350g is way over the odds at this stage of his career. On the other hand do you really ever believe anything written in the press. One thing is for SURE if the TIGS have signed Blair and my info is he is signed sealed and delivered their will be more than one player sent packing

Sharks lose Douglas makes this thread a real chance and even more of a chance if Snowden goes to Tinkler town.

Sign Woods to a long term contract and Fifita for 2 years and we they both will get a GF ring rather than paid heaps to play for the Sharks who wont win a comp for many years

I think you will see it as a priority to keep woods and fifita. once Payten retires next year you only have 4 regular fisrt grade props and woods really isnt a first grade regular…YET, with our withoutblair I think the plan will to keep both otherwise we will be very skinny up front again like a few years ago!

The sharks have been chasing Woods, not Fifita. I'm thinking as a local junior who was given a first grade oppurtunity at the first chance, woods would want to stay.

The sharks very very nearly signed woods in 2009\. Ricky Stuart rates him extremely highly. It was only tim sheens really stepping in that kept him here as it was quiet a large offer

I would love to keep Gibbs as his defence is great. He has got better with age.

I would rather lose Fifita than Woods and let Daniela, Moors, Flanagan and Utai go and convince Payten to retire to free up money for Blair. I would keep Brown as he is developing into a fine player.

A pack with Farah, Blair, Ellis, Galloway, Gibbs, Heightington, Dwyer, Woods, BMM and Fulton is the key to a premiership.

I'm going to make the assumption that Andrew will try and get a deal with his brother, making it harder for us to keep him.

But still, im not a fan of losing fifita. He has been a great tallent for years both in the NYC and NRL. It's not often that you get gun forwards at such a young age and here we apparently are trying to offload him…

It doesn't make sense, especially if there is other fat that can be cut.

Problem that many bottom clubs have is they usually have to pay overs to get gun players to sign with them . Fifita will be the same imo They will end up spending 20% more than other clubs to get his signature and probably offer something to his brother as Kul just mentioned . There is no use in spending more than a young gun is worth to keep him . i think we need to see more consistancy from Fifita to warrant keeping him at this stage if someone offerred $350 k we would be better off letting him go Keep Woods and BMM and get Blair

I doubt the club is trying to offload him.

If they offer him $350k, good luck to him, take the money and run…..we would prob offer him half that I'd imagine, I know that you cant put a price on a chance to win a premiership, but..... $175k a year would be a nice price

Have to agree with Goose.
You never know what's going to happen in your career - injury could put you out early.
Fifita would be crazy to knock back an offer like the one mentioned.
In saying that I hope we can keep him somehow .

I think you're bang on there Goose. For a young bloke who is starting to find consistency in all areas of his game, I think anything above $200K is above what he's worth at this point.

Props don't usually mature until their mid 20's and I'm not a huge fan of locking up props in their late teens-early 20's on large sums as it inflates their value once they do mature.

That said, I don't want to lose him as he is a fantastic young prospect along with Woods and BMM. But if it means losing him to big bucks in order to retain a number of other promising youngsters, I know where I'd be laying my cash.

I dont know if fifita is playing all that well, like a few others @ the moment, but if he can get $350,000 i would tell him to take it . He is a very good prospect but not worth that amount of money @ this stage of his career. But would like to see him stay.
