Will get to SFS by about 4pm. Any good restaurants/cafes/shops to explore before the game starts?

Apparently there are three games on Friday night instead of the usual two and I think the gates open about 4pm. Depends what you are after tigergirlz but the Fox entertainment precinct is on the other side of the SCG which isn't far to walk and it has a variety of shops and eateries- not massive but a few things to offer if you want to stay close to the SFS.

Well it is no restaurant but were the markets are in the middle of fox studios there is a little spainish food stand the rolls are to die for …..chorizo sausage and garlic prawns rolls .... and they have there home made spicy sauce.... They are called MOJO PICON just found them on the web..

You're virtually in Surry Hills so there are a loads of things to do. A lot of the best shops are on Crown Street - just head down from Oxford Street and explore. At the bottom is Cleveland Street, which leads pretty much straight to the ground (about 15 minutes walk).

The most interesting cafe is on Crown Street too - Bill's (Bill Granger's place), which is about half-way down opposite the Dolphin Hotel. There are a million good restaurants round that area but you'll be late for lunch and early for dinner so I'll save that for now.

If it's bars you're after the real question is 'where to start'? Or, possibly, 'what are you looking for'?

Is this the same Dolphin Hotel that the notorious Bluebag 'Bumper' Farrell drank at, I was lucky enough to obtain a copy of his biography and wondered if the place still existed and if it went by it's original name?.

Yes, it is the same Dolphin Hotel referred to in Bumper's biography.
