Final Round : Tanking

I just finished watching the game… I’ve been supportive of Madge staying on as coach, but after watching that, I can’t see how we could possibly keep him.

I put it down to the Tigers aren’t use to playing football in September. They thought it was finals football too much pressure on this playing group and they choked as per usual like they have done all season on any big occasion.

You only have to be 5-10% off to cop a flogging from a team that is on. Also the flow of the game influences the refs decision making so turning the momentum may not even be possible for some teams when playing certain other teams. Tanking 5% yes, doing an Anasta, no.

When you watch Tales from tiger town I know Madge talks down to them some time but these first graders have to be able to be told they arent performing and be able to drop them without the threat of reprisal. In the old days players got dropped all the time. The players dont run the team. As for who you would keep of the regulars - Leilua, Laurie, Douehi, I struggle with the rest and Nofa needs a rocket.

I dont understand how they are such slow starters? Are they not getting enough sleep?
As the game rolls on, they start to show some enthusiasm, is this because coach reminds them they're in a fgame? I thought the forwards had a dig but the backs were woefully lethargic.

They have been tanking all year. Don't see where this game is any different, only perhaps worse.

That was the first thing I thought - because even though they have played pretty awful this season, you'd think that they would have won this one, for their own sake, as surely it is better to go into the off season on a high - and when they ran out on the field I thought they didn't have good body language - but if the situation is untenable with Mcguire as coach well I hate to say it but maybe he should go, however when will the team be ever satisfied with the coach they are given, as they haven't been happy with any of them recently:angry:

How can anyone read those investigative articles and think there is an unfair hit out on the club. The club deserves it and more. Run by clowns, and always has been.

The board have to have a real hard look a themselves and those below them there is something very rotten at this club !

Its been rotten for ten years Snake,but isnt it funny the moment a bloke comes in and says he is going to transform this club by getting rid of the rotten culture and building a winning one,the highly paid NRL players that have been with the club for sometime,start whinging about the same bloke(madge) is to hard,we are on eggshells...sound familiar....the old boys club ring a bell...Until the BOARD START TO GET HONEST AND REALLISTIC this trend will continue....I hope that something changes,and not just Madge going ,but the higher ups are made accountable for a fair percentage of our failure as a club right across the organisation ...

Nope dont think they tanked.
Was there and saw 1st hand what a totally disjointed team without any leadership. No one talking in the huddle after a try.
Devoid of any game plan just run one out and kick high on trhe last. There tries came off errors initially then they could not defend there line in the backs.

Madge was already on notice before the Game, this review will only bring forward a decision that he is gone.
He just can't coach in the Modern Era we have all seen his press conferances same dribble each week after a loss.

If the club makes a statement and fire Madge THEN I also maintain they have to make just as big a statement to the players like tell Brooks he is probably not going to play 1st grade next year and he is free to negotiate with other clubs
