LIVE GAME Finals week 1 discussion

Live Game Discussion
Anyone at the game?

The line speed both Canterbury and Penrith had was insane. Never seen anything like this. Was it blatant offside or they were just fitter than the other teams?

Can't remember many set restarts or penalties across the four games.

Almost 24 hours later, and I still have no idea how Manly won that game. Insane resilience to not give away line breaks.

If Penrith keep getting away with the line speed they had, there is no way anyone else beats them. If I was versing them next, I'd do an early chip kick to keep them on their toes.
Yes, i was at the Riff. No they are not offside, they literally sprint up as opposed to waiting or dawdling up. They train the way they play, hence comments from some of WT former players about how different the standards are there.

The 1969 grand final was my best match to be at,none of the experts gave us a chance and beating Souffs who were full of test players was magic. The hangover next day when you are 16 years old was horrendous
I was on the hill that day same age about 16. All my mates were South fans and said we didn’t have a chance. I remember going home by public transport back to Gladesville where I lived, and there were traffic jams on Victoria Road people dancing in the street outside the Tigers Leagues Club, something you never forget 👌👌👌👌👌

And it's so much easier for the rest of the team if the tacklers hold up the ball runner & push him back... That's less metres the majority of the defensive line have to retreat in fact most are moving forward as the ball is played... On the front foot
Attacking defense

Yep, it’s exactly what they do. It’s very rare they are on the back foot.

No offence to anyone but it's such a basic thing to train for isn't it? Go back 10m and come up as hard as you can.

The difference between Penrith/ Bulldogs and all other 6 teams was crazy.

Doing it for 80 minutes and putting the body through constant punishment set after set is the hard bit.

To’o, Tago and their other outside backs do a lot of dirty work. Keeps their big men fresher.

If Roosters make the GF, theyll win it.
Dead set wrong call.

We are seeing their team dying. They went splat against Penrith.

At full strength they may have a chance.

You can tell that Melbourne/Penrith are the teams to beat.
If I was thinking dark horses, Cowboys.

Which says heaps.

It means Ciraldo and Cleary are training hard for this.

I suspect we are not trainign hard enough with not enough focus on how the training fits the gameplan.

dark horse is if turbo gets himself fit and 100% right manly have the backline to win a GF

I'm getting frustrated with the wraps Cleary is getting for his game.

I thought Martin and Yeo alone were better for the Panthers and in terms of halves, Hughes had a better game than Cleary.

Cleary is once in a generation player but most medi outlets saying best of the round is very wrong IMO

Always been the way. They will always play fluffer to the best players in the game. None more so than Andrew Johns back in the day. I remember back in 05, he sat out half the year through injury, then came back and the Knights went on a run and he was suddenly in Dally M contention. I remember in the final round he got 3 points in a losing effort against the Dragons. It was blatant that they were just trying to get him over the line to win the award. Thankfully it wasn’t enough and Thurston won it.

Johns certainly has his favourites. He will reference them even in a try scenario even when they did one pass which was four passes prior to a try. Brooks, Galvin, especially. Knob.
