How was Hunt in possesion in front of the sticks, pushing over Grant at marker...pipsqueak ref no penalty, play the ball again

Weak reffing...should cost him a GF, not that hes up to it anyway
I'm normally a bit of a Storm follower. But they milk, dive and manipulate the tackle at every single opportunity. Terrible to watch tonight. Grant was all over Hunt in that tackle, Hunt pushes him off and Grant takes a dive. Good decision Ref, Cronulla loss of momentum, fast play the ball lost, was sufficient penalty.

Agree. There was one or two on this forum who didn't rate him when he was with the Tigers.
I didn’t mind him and he was our best centre at the time, and probably still close now. But we needed better bcoz his D could be poor at times, it’s just that Bateman was the wrong call.

Yep but I know who I’d rather not run at or not tackle, and it ain’t Lukey G.

Biggest cheat of the game, forever will be remembered as one... hated him for cheating against us just to win the game.
As a Tigers supporter, even I had to rack my brain to know what you were on about. The guy is one of the most respected players in the game. ”forever will be remembered“ by half a dozen Tiger supporters seems more accurate. The rest of the RL public will just see him as a great servant of the game.

He’s had an excellent career and he will always be remembered for that try in the GF in 2015.

I use to be very critical of Pongha but he has had a stellar season and I have loved watching him play. Individually a player that can turn a game and has been key in the Knights clawing their way to the finals despite their weaknesses.

Garner had a good game for sure. But if I am having to choose who I take into a grand final, Martin or Garner, there is no choice - Martin every time.

Well if that is the case then maybe people shouldn't look at stats alone as the criteria they judge players on, remember when Des Hasler reckoned that Aiden Tolman was the best prop in the NRL based on his stats.

I'm guessing that not many people on here agreed with Desi's assessment at the time, but Des saw him as valuable to the team because of what he went about quietly contributing on a consistent basis.

Have to admit I was surprised by what I found when comparing the stats of Garner vs Martin but sometimes there is the perception that the fierce/angry looking player is contributing a lot more to the team than the one that is quietly going about doing his job.

I really like Martin as a player and would take him in a heart beat but at the same time I appreciate what a player like Luke Garner contributes to a team and was sorry to see him leave, unlike many that did not appreciate what he contributed.

In my opinion there is a place for both beasts and hard working toilers in a team.
