Finals week 2 2025

Just a question as I wasn't listening to 9's coverage much and only really watching when something happened, but, was Gould commentating? There was a bit towards end when I heard such a glowing statements for the Dogs, their pathways and where they were going I said surely this can't be a neutral commentator.
It was so obvious the comentators were biased toward the Dogs...especially Andrew Johns....

Dogs went best with Sexton and Burto as halves, with Burton putting his kicks up into the stratosphere.

You'd think that, with Buurto in centre, they'd get him to push up on the 5th to put up the high balls. Wasting one of their best weapons.
Burton was in great form at 6 and the team looked more cohesive. The coach made some shocking blunders assuming he was the one calling the shots.

This would definitely be Penrith’s biggest premiership if they can pull it off, considering where they were early in the year and everyone assuming the dynasty was over. You’d forgive them for losing their hunger at some point, but it seems like they have the hunger to win ten premierships.

What is it now for penrith 15 consecutive finals dubs?
14 and counting. Next weekend will be their 19th final in a row.

Can’t put all the blame on him. The entire side is playing poorly.
I agree, the bulldogs weren’t ready for that game, they got donkey licked.
The Galvin short ball to a hard running back rower late in the game gave them some respect.
I think the coach should accept the lions share of responsibility for that loss, for the way he unsettled what was a team building toward something special. And it also feels like Gus played a big part in the derailment.

All done with a huge turn over of topline players replaced by recruitment and development of mid-tier NRL players and juniors.

Seriously up there with one of the greatest whole club efforts in the history of Australian sport. Having a big junior base and one Nathan Cleary certainly helps, but what they have done there needs to be studied.

Curious how it looks if you extend it out for the complete NRL era.

Would it be an unfair statement to claim that Penrith actually look more coherent with Blaize as a sidekick as opposed to with Jarome?
I don't know if its better, but I do think they have remodelled their attack a little this year. The way they shifted the ball yesterday was like peak Allblacks. Fast passes hitting their mark 99% of the time.

Think they beat everyone if they play like that again

It just looks a bit more organised and direct with Cleary being the main director and Blaize seems to play straighter than Luai did.

For the first time in the current NRL era I think it will be two teams outside the top 4 in the GF

Penrith v Sharks

Sharks will beat Storm IMO, they have been very beatable in the last while

I also don’t see Broncos beating Penrith, I reckon Cleary will steal that game

Yep it is crazy what they have done

Honestly though I think it is Ivan who is the mastermind although Gus gets a lot of praise

Ivan (and Nathan) have to get most of the credit, but you don't have that kind of sustained success without the whole joint running well from top to bottom. From development and recruitment to the lunch lady.
