LIVE GAME Finals Week 2 Discussion *Spoilers*

Live Game Discussion
Ha ha
I’d call that an early crow 🐦‍⬛
I said the other week if they made the GF they’ll win it.
Getting past this particular Storm side will be a very difficult thing to achieve though.
They are hitting form however and are playing on emotion of long term legends leaving, so it should be a good contest.

I'm getting smashed by my rooster's friends, loving champion tiger's players, wanting to know if we have more just in time for teddy to retire, faaakers, hate the rorters

Well I was totally wrong about Manly..: I really thought they’d hang in there like they did against the bulldogs and come home with a wet sail. Turns out Roosters are a much more maligned side then the puppies

Still reckon they’ll get dog walked by the storm next week

Well, what to make of the weekends games. The Sharks overpowered the Cowboys pretty easily as did the Roosters with Manly.
Moving forward it looks like the refs are allowing a lot more wrestle in the ruck area without the constant 6 agains.
To be honest I have found the finals series quite underwhelming so far. I hope and expect that to change in Melbourne next week.
I think the score lines should be sending alarm bells through the NRL. There is daylight between the top 4 and the rest. I don't see how adding more teams in will have any affect other than widening it.
Everyone will have different opinions on that, but in my whole life watching footy I have never turned off a semi final, yet this year have done it twice due to boredom. Maybe I'm just getting old, but there is obviously a lot of others getting old too as I know they have also turned off.

Yep becoming more and more boring and predictable every year. Sad state of the game, great if you’re a supporter of one of the elite teams, too bad for everyone else.

You turned it off early, I haven't even turned a game on. Which is very unusual. But, I just don't care 🤷

More and more players from the Tigers and other old Sydney clubs will leave to join Storm, Panthers and Rorters (and Qld players will join Broncos once they get a top coach) "to win a comp".

Yeah the predictability is one thing, but I have always loved watching the finals games regardless of whether WT are involved or not. The intensity, the increased quality of the footy (usually) keeps me glued to the screen but the score lines we have seen this year particularly by halftime is a major concern I think. The Manly v Dogs game should have been the norm for semis, but up until this coming weekend it's actually been an anomaly.

I guess this belongs in another thread but when the expansion takes place, the playing quality will get diluted further, eventually there will be the call about too many teams and some genius will come up with a concept where less teams will result in a "State of Origin" quality competition every week.................hmmm sounds like something that happened in the 90's.......around and around we go.

I think there is an ultimate reason and a simple fix.
The season is far too long and the toll that takes on the players is very noticeable come the finals. If there is any player at more than 70% fitness Id be very surprised.
20 rounds is more than enough.
The extra time could be used for a short break, then State of Origin campaign and a Test Series to placate the network demands

Agree. And when the two new sides come in the additional travelling on top what is already a long season something has to give - just not sure how they will make it work.

There will be 19 rounds once the 20 team comp begins (assuming its play each team once only)
19 rounds s opposed to 27 rounds currently. Plenty of spare time and I see a lot of dead time during the premiership

Rugby league is almost like a completely different sport now with all the rule changes.

It will probably get worse regarding predictability and score blow-outs because because the rules accentuate momentum. Previously, a team could win back possession with a rake back or scrum win but now 6 agains, sin bins a perfect pitch with no previous lower grades 125 kg blokes coming in off the bench for 15 minutes.

They may need to re tweak the rules to favour the possibility of possession shifts.

Maybe scrum contests, winners kick off, steals allowed in tackles.

Yes, this is all stuff that causes lop sided scorelines.
One of my pet hates is having these monsters on the bench who come on and bully the opposition for 10-15 minutes and then thats their contribution done. These guys are not footballers.
I used to also get the shits with guys like Wendell Sailor who'd bludge out on the wing for set after set until they saw the pigs get a bit tired and then theyd take a hit up through the middle and due to their size and the fact they were relatively fresh, theyd make a break and be called great players. NO. Do it once a set, all game long, and then do all your defensive work in there as well and then we'll talk.

More pressing concern is how you/we/the NRL have a non-competitive finals series every single year…
damn right,i was going 2 waffle on last week about that, but spared you all .lol.its beyond a joke.your shite team may make 7 or 8 now n then. Glorify a spoon bowl.if we ever meet i spit out 1000 words per minute until exhausted.move on,fk all us plebs can do(loud noise) or will do about it is sook on the net
