Barrett may be a contender?

Whats the score there? Are they playing at the same time as eels/donks?

They played before them, they got flogged, 32-16, they have a tough draw coming up, with a chaotic board.

Does Trent Barrett get a free pass for this year or could he still be on the chopping block? How bad would things have to get?

He got to sign a lot of his players and moved on whomever he didn't want so you'd think he may not get a pass.

Seems like another Jason Taylor, seems to offer a bit as part of a coaching system, but doesn't fare well overseeing it all.

Also CB and I do agree with your post,I think Toddy is pushing the boundaries up North,he only has to tread on to many toes and he could end up on the outer quick smart...his verbal about J.Tamalolou was probably warranted but not in the public sphere as the Cowboys have him as their huge multi million dollar man and dont want to look to be embarrassed by Tod...

dont worry they have JAC coming next season, cant wait to see how well a winger improves their forwards, hooker and inexperienced halves situation.

Barrett & Payten really gonna struggle this season i reckon

Barrett is a myth . He’s going to end up being a Jason Taylor type level coach . Astute mind , who on paper has all the hallmarks of an elite coach , but is just missing a key ingredient. I thought Phil Gould when describing him last year said more with saying less . He said to the effect of “ He became a head coach too soon and wasn’t ready . I told him as much at the time . Hopefully he’s learnt the lessons he needed to learn and will be better for it second time around . I’m just not too sure this is the right job for him “. I’m paraphrasing, but that’s basically the message .
That’s the guy who’s his biggest advocate .
Payten seems like he would click with a certain type of playing group . Very youthful , looking to grow together . Hes inherited a premiership winning nucleus who just turfed their previous coach. I’m sure he just wanted to get out of NZ , and back to a more familiar setting in NQ, but I think he’s made a mistake .

To be fair I had not considered JAC and Matt Burton. They will probably improve them.

NQ's playing roster needs to be blown up. Almost all of the players from the Green regime have had some terrible things coached into their games which are almost impossible to coach out of them. Both Payten and Barrett have made mistakes taking those jobs in my opinion.

Warriors were a good job because Stephen Kearney basically spent the last four years coaching good habits into them. His structures and game plans weren't great, but he knew he had to teach them the little things like how to move in a defensive line and how to calmly assess a game situation. Whoever came in next would inherit a mature playing group ready to learn.

Absolutely Brilliant post.

Yes a JAC with 1 more year of injuries on him. Look I rate the guy and a specialist winger is worth something. Particularly as JAC gets defense and if he can train that then that's valuable.
But a year in League, this comp is damaging a lot of bodies, JAC won't keep being the fastest winger with the way he gets tackled. Still a great signing but a risk.

Either way Barrett is another Jason Taylor. He has his system, he will force it onto the Bulldogs where it doesn't fit. He will get Burton across but no one else once people see a trainwreck this year. Then Burton will be blamed for the next year. No reason why anyone else of talent will stay.

Todd Payten will need to start getting some wins on the scoreboard and it looks like he will loose the team respect soon.
Barrett I expect to be the biggest failure, no creativity as a coach it is his way or highway and by him rewriting the side he owns the problems. He won't adapt as the game changes.

The big surprise is Anthony Griffin. I rated him as the best of the coaches available and he has a great winrate. Tough but knows how to get the side moving. Infact if we lost McGuire I was hoping we would hire him next. Boy St George have shown success even with one of their biggest names down on the sidelines.

Dragons apparently in a swap deal for Billy Burns from the Panthers in exchange for Eddie Blacker. Also Fifita and Maguire rumoured as possible acquisitons.

Dragons have beat manly and cowboys two spoon contenders and were losing to Newcastle (who we beat) before they lost their entire spine. They haven't exactly played high quality footy, they might somehow sneak into the 8 because of how badly other teams are but top teams will kill them

What you say is true, but as I have said many times, I really rate Griffin as a coach and there is no way that St.George will be any where near the spoon like a lot of people tipped.

Stephen Kearney may not be the greatest coach of all time, but he must have some sort of coaching talents for Bellyache to have him sitting in the coaches box with him.

Cue the Anthony Seibold is a dud comments.
