Dragons have beat manly and cowboys two spoon contenders and were losing to Newcastle (who we beat) before they lost their entire spine. They haven't exactly played high quality footy, they might somehow sneak into the 8 because of how badly other teams are but top teams will kill them

What you say is true, but as I have said many times, I really rate Griffin as a coach and there is no way that St.George will be any where near the spoon like a lot of people tipped.

Cows have big issues ...Morgan is on a million

If he gets medically retired doesn't the NRL/players union pay that amount out?

Barrett & Payten really gonna struggle this season i reckon

Barrett is a myth . He’s going to end up being a Jason Taylor type level coach . Astute mind , who on paper has all the hallmarks of an elite coach , but is just missing a key ingredient. I thought Phil Gould when describing him last year said more with saying less . He said to the effect of “ He became a head coach too soon and wasn’t ready . I told him as much at the time . Hopefully he’s learnt the lessons he needed to learn and will be better for it second time around . I’m just not too sure this is the right job for him “. I’m paraphrasing, but that’s basically the message .
That’s the guy who’s his biggest advocate .
Payten seems like he would click with a certain type of playing group . Very youthful , looking to grow together . Hes inherited a premiership winning nucleus who just turfed their previous coach. I’m sure he just wanted to get out of NZ , and back to a more familiar setting in NQ, but I think he’s made a mistake .

NQ's playing roster needs to be blown up. Almost all of the players from the Green regime have had some terrible things coached into their games which are almost impossible to coach out of them. Both Payten and Barrett have made mistakes taking those jobs in my opinion.

Warriors were a good job because Sbasically spent the last four years coaching good habits into them. His structures and game plans weren't great, but he knew he had to teach them the little things like how to move in a defensive line and how to calmly assess a game situation. Whoever came in next would inherit a mature playing group ready to learn.

Stephen Kearney may not be the greatest coach of all time, but he must have some sort of coaching talents for Bellyache to have him sitting in the coaches box with him.

Cue the Anthony Seibold is a dud comments.

Some people are just better off being the assistant than the head. Nothing wrong with that but Kearney was not a good head coach.

Re. Seibold, as we're seeing w Payten, there just aren't a lot of good head coaches in rugby league and clubs are desperate to appoint anyone who has had even a small but of success.

I'd imagine so mate

Barrett has gone ahead and secured himself for 2-3 years max regardless of results. This year will be all about we haven't got the team yet, next year will be combinations need time and then 2023 will be the final decision.

Des has too much power in Manly. Plus, I feel they will win half their games at least with Turbo back.

Walters is a weird one- he's got dead weight in Milf and Croft. No forwards leader and no good fullback. You'd think he'll get 3 years as well.

I feel guys like Payten/Barrett- the hard nosed approach may not last a while in the NRL. The calmer guys like Holbrook/Robinson who seem to be good man managers might be a more successful. Hence, my reservations about Madge as well. But Madge's ammo is all about fitness and training which seems to be a big mantra this year rather than skill.

I’m going to be make a bold call and say Anthony Griffin.

You’re kidding right? This is best St George has played in years! Regardless of what teams they have beaten, they’ve won 3 on the trot - something we can only dream of doing.

Has to be Dessie I reckon, Manly are woeful.

Club still pays the money, but it doesnt count off the cap. Then they claim it on insurance.

I actually think it will be a sack free season,.........remember you heard it here first!

John Morris is set to be sacked following yesterdays capitulation against Easts. The club has reportedly already identified his replacement with that being Craig Fitzgibbon.

Really ?

Thought bomber was doing a decent job.

I honestly think Morris has the sharks playing well above their ability. If he gets the flick i would say that internal politics played a large part

Crazy from the Sharks. He has an average roster with overpaid, injury prone players. Had a salary cap penalty. Has them performing pretty well.

Very tough on Morris, but he has limitations and I think Shark's bosses seem themselves as a 'big' club.

Fitzgibbon is a very good footy mind...and he will bring that NSW Origin / Rorters connection. It will make recruitment of top juniors much easier.

Morris would be a major pick up for the Tigers as an assistant coach .. I am amazed that he has been shafted! the sharks play a great structured game with heaps of set moves and are good to watch . The players seem always up for the game it has been a bit unfortunate that injuries at crucial times have cruelled there last few games .
I know for a fact that he is ultra professional , suppose ESL would be on the cards but there are a few NRL clubs that might be interested! Its a tough gig is coaching at that level..

Jason Talyor has a great footy mind as well ... There is more to the job than that as we all know !

Haha...slightly different. Taylor is basically disliked by most and has zero connections. Fitz is universally loved, respected and has the Politis phone book...
