Fittler in Tigers' sights as halves coach

I really don't rate the guy or the Johns brothers. I'd like to see Sterling here - he seems to have a great eye for the game.

Matthew Johns would be great, he was here in 05 before moving to Melbourne to mentor Cooper Cronk who has huge wraps on him. Bellamy has stated that there is always a position at Melbourne if he wants it. Hopefully he could bring Ben Kennedy with him to stiffen up our defence.

That would be amazing!!! Probably no better tactical mind in the game than Sterlo. Thing is, I believe he has knocked back numerous offers from his beloved Eels team. So not sure if he'd help out another club. Then again money talks. But we don't have money… Imagine it. Sterlo. Our halves couch. Holy Sheeeet!!! dreaming I know.

I reckon Sterlo just isn't interested in coaching

If he was someone would of snapped him up by now

Would love Sterling!
But you don't even rate Fittler or Johns bros? Whaaaa?

Let's be honest nobody in here really knows anything about what Fittler, or Sterlo, or anyone else thrown up is like as a coach.

One thing I can say as the current City coach Fittler has already displayed a soft side for selecting fringe Tigers players, so at the very least his appointment could lead to further minor rep guernseys!

Lets face reality, they are looking to appoint an assistant that can take over as head coach if the current shambles continues into next season.

Being able to play the game, and commentate is a world away from being an effective coach. Imparting knowledge is more then just telling people what they did wrong.

I reckon there is a reason Sterlo hasn't taken up a coaching role, he knows his limits.

Not as coaches. Great players but being a coach is different. I'd like a mature guy who can tell it like it is. Johns I think could be a great skills coach and probably knows a lot about half play. I think Fittler was just a freak and I'm not sure if he would be able to coach.

I don't think that playing necessarily translates into coaching ability. Some sportsmen are great sportsmen but they just do stuff without thinking.

Sterlo was a great player don't get me wrong, but it was a totally different generation of football. Very different to today's game. Mind you I saw him throwing the footy around on The Footy Show and the poor old bloke struggles to throw a pass these days.

Another reason why Blocker probably isn't the best man for a defensive coach. He would give good tips, but again, a different era.

We need a someone from a closer era.

Johns is doing a wonderful job with Foran and Cherry-Evans at Manly. Fittler or Kimmorley would again be my pick. Fantastic footy brains.

Era has nothing to do with wether a person is a good coach or not. If your theory was correct then Bellamy and Bennett would be duds as well. Neither is ability as a former plAyer makes you a good coach. It's knowledge and the ability to pAss on that knowledge through effective communication. So , they have to understand you and want to change/adapt to what your presenting.

Everyone wants to work with brooks and Moses because there is so much hype about their future. They all want the wraps for their future success.

I'm pretty sure Kimmorley is an assistant coach with Raiders, so there's little chance of him.

Fittler sounds fine to me.

With the upheaval at the Raiders today Kimmorley might be a free agent for next season ..grab him Tigers he is just whats needed .

Guys
Andrew johns is at manly
Brett kimorly is at raiders
Matt johns do you really think robbie farah would allow that after the ambush on tv I don't think they like each other very much
Fittler? who's quote was this earlier in this thread
"Let's be honest nobody in here really knows anything about what Fittler, or Sterlo, or anyone else thrown up is like as a coach." Did not fittler coach roosters from 07 to 09 for a win percentage of 43%

Freddy can be a goofball but when footy time comes he switches on. He would definitely help Sironen as from what I've seen he plays a similar style to Freddy in his day. Not sure about the other two, haven't seen them play.

Freddy always says he wants to coach again in his commentary, I would love him as assistant!! Passion, Enjoyment and Guts. Footy is made on guys being real with themselves and enjoying it at the same time, Freddy is as real as it comes. Something we need as I feel potter sometimes is only saying the obvious and "correct" thing. Anyone saying he is immature and a goofball and thats why he shouldn't be around the team are half sighted and a dud football observer, he is exactly what we need.
