Flanagan or Fulton

The answer is Simon Dwyer…

I'm not sure there's room for either Flanagan or Fulton in a full strength team (knowing that Sheens will always have a back on the bench, ridiculous as I think it is):

8\. Bryce Gibbs
9\. Robbie Farah
10\. Keith Galloway
11\. Gareth Ellis
12\. Todd Payten
13\. Chris Heighington

14\. Andrew Fafita
15\. Junior Moors
16\. Simon Dwyer
17\. Blake Ayshford

I'm with you on that one Colonel. Fulton can make 40 tackles a game but doesn't hit the line like Dwyer and the Tigers have definitely benefited from having a backrower come on who can take 3 players with him each time he hits the ball up, plus his defence is solid. Rotating him with Payten is a very shrewd move IMO. Rotate Moors for Galloway, Fifita for Gibbs and Dwyer for Payten.

How quickly they turn….

Benji misses his mate still...

Fulton walks straight back in........from the bench with Dwyer.....Flanagan back to State Cup.....

I think it will be between Dwyer or Flanagan? They both offer a different approach to Attack and Defence. This is a hard one…

Fulton has got to be in the 17, as he can play ever position except Prop and Fullback.

'between Dwyer and Flanagan' hard one?

If I was to pick either Dwyer and Flanagan, my decision would take a matter of 0.0000000001 seconds. Dwyer is bigger, stronger and his tackles are more effective than Flanagan. Dwyer is the type of bloke you want taking big hit ups against opposition teams, especially when you want to be getting over the advantage line.

Fulton versus Flanagan - choice is easy. Fulton

1) Can make 40+ tackles in a game
2) Is the best-on-one tackler in the side
3) Has proven utility value
4) Is a much better ball player then Flanagan
5) Can run a good angle and hit a hole.

Don't get me wrong - I think Flanagan goes well however in my opinion he tries to play a brand of bash and barge football which isn't suited to his frame and while I don't mean to be overly critical of one incident, I doubt Fulton would have missed Luke Lewis in the Penrith game.

Fulton is essential as his ruck defence is excellent and will be relied upon in semi-final type football

The thing thats good about Flanagan is that he has done very well for us and if he decides to go back to pommyland he will kill it over there now

actually statistically flanagan is outpointing fulton, and just for the record, how many games of super league did you watch flanagan play? He was a 5/8th over there so he would have to have ball playing skills

In what areas is he "statistically" outponting Fulton. I did not see Mark's superleague career (and given he played about 5 games, you would have to be very lucky to see it). I was referring to what we have witnssed in NRL - which BTW is more extensive than his SL career.

I am not bagging Flannagan - he has a real dig. Merely stating that in a two horse race, Fulton would be the clear choice

Dont get me wrong, I think Flanagan has done an awesome job when called on… but when the team is at full strength, Fulton edges him into the 17 on defence, play making ability & versatility.
