Flight scrambled for Farah to join Blues

The Wests Tigers have managed to scramble a flight home from Auckland for captain Robbie Farah, who has been called into the NSW State of Origin squad as injury cover.

The Tigers will be stuck in New Zealand until at least Tuesday because of the ash cloud from a volcano in Chile, but Farah will fly home on Monday night after he was told he'd be joining the Blues as 19th man before Sunday's 26-22 win over the Warriors.

The Tigers' Qantas flight scheduled for Monday was cancelled and Farah will head home with Emirates.

"He'll hopefully join the Blues camp tomorrow," Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys told AAP from Auckland.

"There aren't too many seats but we were able to get one for him.

"He definitely wanted to be there just in case he's required."

Farah will join 18th man Tom Learoyd-Lahrs in the NSW camp for Wednesday night's Origin II at ANZ Stadium.

Origin I forwards Jason King and Dean Young had been named as 18th and 19th men but did not pull up well enough out of the weekend's NRL matches.

King has an ankle injury while Young's chronic knee problem means he regularly needs the full week's turnaround.

Wont play.
The fact that King and Young were ahead of Leoryd Lahrs and Farah annoys me.

Well, well, well! Now we know where Farah stands in the NSW pecking order. I thought he was much further down in the selectors minds than that, tbh. In reality, he should've been before Young though, and Lars way ahead of that King size pillow!

Only because Hinchcliffe plays tonight and Melbourne flights are still iffy

Glad to see Robbie is at least on the radar for SOO even if it is in outer orbit at least he can take some positive out of being called up and the good thing is he will be fit to play next sunday- looking forward to the game against the storm.

ROBBIE FARAH NAMED 19TH MAN FOR NSW
13/06/2011 5:41:44 PM

Wests Tigers hooker and captain Robbie Farah has been called into the NSW Blues squad as 19th man.

Unlike his Wests Tigers team-mates and officials, Farah was able to get a flight home this evening from Auckland after being called into the Blues squad.

Wests Tigers players and officials remain in Auckland tonight after their Qantas flight scheduled for this afternoon was cancelled due to the volcanic ash.

Who knows if Ennis is injured - perhaps Robbie might get a game and NSW might win - fingers crossed

I won't be ending my SOO boycott until one of our players gets on the field. Hopefully Ennis will choke on his ego during training.

Ennis wont be able to choke on his ego. His mouth is already full. How do you think he got selected? :astonished:

So we finally get a player on the fringe of the Origin squad….yet you all wanna talk about a diouchebag?
Congrats

Go Robbie - good luck.

Ennis is a wonderful man with a nasty demeanor on field and you need to separate his stage performances from reality. He is a great, charitable, family man.

Perhaps I'm just being cynical but does anyone think this is just a PR exercise to placate the many who think that Ennis should of been dropped and Farah brought in
