Folau's stupid comments

Just caught the backend of the news and am pretty sure I overheard Israel Folau say at a rugby league schools promotion in western sydney, that he hoped the AFL were succesful with their infiltration of the western suburbs - that it wouldnt be easy as it is rugby leagues territory but all the best of luck to them.

Did I hear things or was that pretty close to the mark?

I know the guy sounds as thick as pig dung but geez, is he for real?
 
Yep, he talked up the AFL push into Western Sydney. Not the sharpest tool in the shed that's for sure. Gallop wasn't impressed either.

I did hear it right…what a moron...he did this at a kids coaching clinic which was run by the NRL allstars team members.

As a member of this side and indeed the NRL in general he should have a duty of care to promote the game that has made him a millionaire.

He is obviously another mercenary who is on the verge of defecting and should be imediately sacked from the allstars side.

Disagree with your last sentence. What proof do you have of him defecting? Ok, he's no rocket scientist but he doesn't deserve to be sacked from the side for that comment.
 
AFL fans are potential converts to the Mormon church remember.

Israel has a responsibility to his church first and foremost
 
No proof here willow but I dont think it would be that big of a stretch to think that he has - or soon will be approached by these afl blokes. He would go pretty well in the sissy code as he can jump and he cant tackle….plus he has good hands.

How else would you explain these comments at this precise time? do you think it was a coincidence?

One of the reporters asked him the question and I think he gave his honest opinion without thinking of any repercussions. Bit like Darius Boyd last year with his one word answers.
 
He pretty much plays AFL anyway, the only thing he's good at is leaping for kicks. For the size of the kid he really should dominate his opponent more, you don't see him unless his side is 10m out from the try line. Imo he's a great waste of money. Hope he does jump the fence.
 
Folau is not the sharpest tool in the shed. I can't believe anyone would give their competitor a big endorsement like he did. It just doesn't make sense. Probably just bumping his price up for when he's off-contract again.

I can only assume he was asked the question regarding the afl's move into western sydney and that he didn't bring it up on his own. In that case, good on him. He gave an honest answer. Glad he didn't become another one of Gallop's puppets.
 
Sometimes its better to say good luck to a competitor, rather than bagging them. If all of Rugby League said welcome and good luck there would be more pressure on the afl to succeed and no excusses if they fail. Also makes it pretty hard for them to do a campaign bagging League if League is wishing them all the best. Very effective sales/marketing tool for those smart enough to use it.

I dont think Falou is smart enough to have realised this…..but i certainly hope someone from the NRL has.
