Footy Urban Legends

Ive a bit to do with MG and he may have lost a blue, but I guarantee he is not scared of anyone.

The Gus version of events of the "dont let fear hold you back" (awesome call though) has become legend, Ive been led to believe reality had a lot more with Brandy and someone else (possibly Carty or Freddy) getting him to leave than Gus's bravado that saw MG leave. I also reckon if it was in a pub rather than a dressing room full of blokes that wouldnt let it happen Gus would have been less brave.

MG in his hothead days was more than willing to blue just about anybody, including some renown hardnuts.

As an aside the way MG has turned his life around is nothing short of amazing, it is credit to him. He has gone from being a bloke to be avoided to a man who is very generous and and a good role model. Maybe MG should chat with the Todd Carney;s of the world.

Until I right now I had no idea Gary Jack played for Wests!

I was a Balmain fan and thought he always played there…..learn something new everyday

When Souths are strong rugby league is strong. Complete baloney

And What about Souffs are "THE PRIDE OF THE LEAGUE"

What a joke - might have been in 1908 - not any more.

Talk about up themselves!!!!

Well they are the current NRL Champions!, the current Auckland 9's Champions! tonight will most likely win the charity shield against the Stains and then head overseas for the WCC!.
I used to have a soft spot for $outh$ as the local club I played for wore the $outh$ colours but yes their fans have turned into wankers over the last few years.

"_**One thing that had impressed Taylor was the camaraderie, which was pointed out to him by a player before he was officially pointed coach, and the “tightness of the group’’**_.

Quoted this from another thread because I reckon it has to be the biggest urban myth of all time! If it was so good we'd be up there competing all the time, but I've yet to see this "camaraderie and tightness of the group" in action when the chips are down - on the field at least anyway, and that's where it counts in Rugby League. I'm still hoping to finally see it in matches this season.

In the era of " fibro's -v - silvertails", I was waiting for brawl to erupt from a scrum, and see a certain referee **Greg Hartley accidentally decked, by a gentleman  , named John " Dallas" Donnelly.**

And everyone thought Manly were the silvertails , Balmain did a fairly good impression

My uncle was with a group of guys one night in Lidcombe, one being Dallas Donnelly, They walked into a pizza place on closing time and were refused service. Dallas responded by jumping the counter and serving himself by scoffing into all the trays of ingredients.

Happy Tiger, I'm not one to stick up for Geyer, I can't stand him. But Andrew Gee couldn't put my cousin away when my cousin had his hands held being his back by another guy. So I find it hard to believe he is the thrashing machine your making out.

Back then he was still a back rower KS with Alan Cann , lot more mobile boy back then trust me

Qld front rowers were Michael Searle and Tony Hearns

Hooker was Dean Schifilitti

Have a mate who spent most of his youth around Newcastle, reckons some club legends from Knights were made to retire or face the music over PEDs. Although he is an NRL fan he hates the Knights.

You could fill a book of legends about Dallas, and most of them were probably true. The best one was when he askedRoy Masters in the dressing room at lidcombe , if you could be sent off for hitting an opponent before a game had started. Roy told him that he wasn't sure , but didn't think so .
That was good enough for DAllas and he decked Randall as they were in the still in the tunnel . The weird thing was that hardly anyone from both teams was aware of it until halftime .

I have dirt on a bunch of players.
Can't post though as the more tamer ones I did post were deleted.
It'd defo make you think different of a few of 'em but some - you won't be surprised.
