The point system is rediculous. I get some moron who doesnt agree with my opinion and downvotes me twice in one thread and I go from positive - 30 odd. If i downvote him he loses maybe 1 point.
Starting to think there is some kind of nut cupping club here for certain members. Not even sure why I let it bother me, but it has.
Now I just noticed if I try and positive vote someone, I cannot due to my negative rep. WTF ?
Basically this moron has managed all this. In essence someone with high positive rep can do whatever to a particular member without recourse. Should be 1 point for a pos and -1 for a neg , not -20 !
My 2 cents.

I don't think the rep system is fair to newer forum members. If you check my rep, I have more positive 'thumbs up' than negs, but due to the person who appears to not like me having high rep, I cannot give positive 'thumbs up' anymore.
Doesn't seem right that someone can downvote me twice in one thread ( possibly more if he has a vendetta ) and remove some privledges from me due to it.

My first neg to you was to do with the topic - whatever it was.
The 2nd was for your complaint of the 1st neg rep.
The third, for this post above.

If mods need anymore proof of how a vendetta can affect someones forum rep read the post above. I have a total of 3 negs, all from one person … Enough said ! I can't even give him a neg back anymore as once you are in the red, it's bad luck. This needs to be fixed, newer members shouldn't get screwed over because someone feels like it !

I don't know what the actual reasoning behind it is, but I will go out on a limb and say it stops members who have negative rep from going "tit for tat" on those who choose to neg rep them.

There is no need to have a facility to give negative rep points. If you like a guy or his posts then yeah sure give him a hug …not that there is anything wrong with it.
If you don't like something or someone then bad luck that's how life is and you should be free to express that in a civil manner.There shouldn't be a system whereby you can degrade a person who has made a comment you don't like.
Some of these "in the negative people" make the forum more interesting and I wouldn't like them scared off
Yeah there a bit crazy and not as intelligent as some but Hey you need those people.
Maybe we can look at just giving positive reps and disregard the whole negative rep thing.
The only issue with that Blackandwhite is there are some niche posters who would rep each other when they post their stuff and not have to worry that 90% of people think they're mad.
