FOX SPORTS - TIGERS BEST 17

Good top 17, real question is how does the side fare if there are 3 or 4 major injuries to that team.

I would say same as the Roosters 2016 without JWH Pearce and Cordner for half a season..

Don't see this being the 17 JT will pick seeing as though Naiqama was playing right centre for the opposed session and Rankin left wing. We can see it, don't know why he can't.

People have a short memory, remember when kev first came here and he was on the wing. The guy couldn't catch a bomb to save his life, so we moved him to the centres.

Only change I'd make is Ava starting, Sue to the back row and Aloiai to the bench.

Same.

Sue would make a great edge runner and in defense help the halves.

That would mean the bench has two prop's a backrower and a hooker on the bench.

Much better balance imho.

Let's hope we score a lot of tries, or score mostly under the posts, as most wide tries are going to be 4 pointers

I reckon Moses has been doing a fair bit of goal kicking practice over the pre season…he can kick and now with a bit more experience and maturity he could well be a lot more consistent at kicking goals..time will tell.. One question I do want to ask,if Rankin gets dropped to SC,could Simona be the backup kicker or is there anyone else for the job ???

Obviously there a few players we are unable to cover, such as Teddy, but I'm very curious to see how some of the rookie forwards will go when they get a crack. I think we might get some pleasant surprises.

Given the right circumstances I'd consider giving Lawry an occasional "freshener".

The side is as expected, with one glaring omission…...

A decent full time goalkicker.

Makes it hard to win these days when you don't regularly turn 4 into 6.

Moses = G/K

He missed 2 shots at goal that arguably cost us the semi's.

That's not to say he can't improve. Cameron Smith didn't hit 70% until his 3rd season as a regular kicker. Hodgo was under 60% at the Magpies.

I think moses has plenty of potential as a goal kicker. Hopefully JT has told him he is the goal kicker, and he is working hard in the pre season to get that accuracy we need.

A decent full time kicker. Quite a afew in the side can kick, but not at 80%+ required.

And to be honest, Moses should be concentrating on other stuff.

Tim Simona is a good kicker as well, he hits the ball very sweetly. I don't know why he hasn't been considered for the goal kicking duties. Both Moses and Rankin are very average kickers and we need more than average. We rarely slaughter teams so a good, reliable goal kicker is vital for a team like ours.

I've only seen Simona kick for Samoa and he was very poor. Missed a couple by a mile. That could just be lack of practice, though.

Shouldn't the whole team be concentrating on other stuff… DEFENCE!!!

Agree Swordy, but considering our parlours financial state I guess we should be pleased with the line up. 2018 will be the season when we will finally have some extra cash to see if we can address the goal kicking problem. I hope so anyway and I hope Taylor can still be there to benefit.
