He's not that bad
Dummy halves are sposed to have a crack when they think something is on - yes, I believe he may overplay his hand at times, but the criticism he cops for so-called 'selfish plays' compared to Farah is a bit OTT imo

He has some cretivity and attacking skills in him….D needs a lot of work
 
I was personally disappointed that they kept Iosefa instead of Humble, I think Humble played a better role at dummy half from a team point of view and would have been more versatile. Humble also seemed much more team orientated than Iosefa (not looking for that BIG play). To me Iosefa is looking to be a STAR player, a hot shot number 9 but he is not quite up to it and particularly in a team that already has Robbie, there is no place for this. We need a back up with a good brain and sharp selfless service. This goes against everything I have aver thought of the bloke as well everything I have said above, but as depth against Robbie getting hurt I think Moltzen could be good if Potter could smack him on the arse and tell him to do what he is told. Not sure of Moltzens defensive capabilities at 9 though, doesnt seem to have the ticker.

Getting back to the original thread. I'd love to have FPN at the Tigers. I remember when he started, Frank Paul the "Wrecking Ball" was a big Mose Masoe type prop that hit VERY hard in attack & defence. That is not remarkable, there are many big polynesians that can do that however what was remarkable was 1 year later a super slimmed down FPN was playing lock with surprising mobility and good hands. He obviously does have the discipline to carry this off. I think under good tutelage, he could be turned into a Todd Payten type mobile Prop with a passing game.

With Anasta most people have dilemma: Fulton or Anasta? However, he provides (probably adequate) solution in the case Marshall gets injured.
As many people pointed out, we cannot play Anasta and Fulton in 2nd row, as our go forward will suffer, the solution very much depends on Blair and Bell, as our 'best' compromise is either:

Blair, BMM/Pettybourne, Anasta

or

Bell, BMM/Pettybourne, Anasta

and bench: Fulton, Pettybourne/BMM, Seumanufagai, Bell/Fotuaika.

Nah dont agree with that. Does some very good things. He tries hard which I like but is a very poor defender (which I dont).

He gives nice, early service which can be refreshing given Robbie has got into the habit over the past 3 years of want to take two or three steps before passing.

Dont really see a role for him though. I would rather see Politoni if a backup hooker is needed.
 
Iosefa is a potent attacking force. He just needs to be a little more judicious in his option-taking. This should come with experience.

His defense does need a little work, however.

With regard to our depth at #7 & #9, how many teams have first-grade standard substitutes? Given the salary cap, no team can afford to wharehouse quality players in these positions as cover for injuries.
 
Iosefa came to us mid-year from playing half back in park footy. It's hard to suddenly find yourself defending in the 9 jumper in NRL.

I'll reserve judgement on his defence till I've seen him with a full per-season under his belt

Pretty good assessment ….thought he struggled with fitness, need a back up 9 give him the benefit.
 
Iosefa is good off the bench with fresh legs but when he gets tired we are in trouble. There are worse defenders in the team though, that are probably preselected unlike him.

My two biggest issues with Masada are he seems to only feed Benji and when he does have a defensive miss its usually a bad one
 
Masada is what he is, a good back up who has a few flaws that prevent him from nailing a permanent spot. He is good as you get for a player is purely cover for injury and rep duty
 
He not a bad backup, shows some talent. Could be a very handy player some day. I too would have liked to keep Humble, nit given a good crack last year, I think he's more versatile IMO. And as far as Frank, if he's cheap and available, why not. Not exactley what were after, but would do a good job. May stiffle up and comers however.
 
Humble was ordinary imo .lets see how he goes at his new club.

Humble went fine for a relative rookie with only 6 games under his belt when he got to the club. We then proceeded to shift him from pillar to post. Expecting him to do well or thrive under that situation is a bit much.

so firstly , why did Parra let him go if he was rated so highly ,and then why did we do the same when i believe he was still contracted to us ?
Cream always rises to the top regardless of the situation .
 
I'm not saying he is "the next big thing in the NRL", but saying the bloke is not a first grader when he is at the beginning of his career and thrown into the deep end with a team not performing, is a bit rough.

Just because a player was let go by a club, doesn't automatically make them not capable of 1st grade.
 
Humble solid player gutsy didnt put a foot wrong for us would of had him at fullback anyday over Moltzen ….sad to see him go...

We need to stop thinking in Sheens terms and remember there is a coach with a completely different outlook.

If there are injuries, we wont be going back to the ramble and shamble that Sheens dealt when things went south.

In fact, if Marshall was out for the season, I wouldn't be that concerned that Anasta, Sironen, Miller couldnt carry us through.

If Robbie was out, we have Iosefa and Politini (unless he has gone). These guys that Sheens wouldn't give a fair go but could do the job for a good length of time. Gone are the days that Farah is out, so Liam Fulton is the hooker.

I expect big changes in the way the team copes with injuries and problems. I don't think we need to rely on overpaid and second rate hacks such as Nuuausala just to make the numbers. Really, is he in the top 100 forwards running around? I think not.

I would have thought it will tough for him down there…
They already have Morris and DeGois.
But at the same time, we have Farah and Iosefa... Not much different.
Iosefa is closer to 1sts than Pat. Having said that Patty is a great kid and I wish him luck
 
With Groat gone i would be looking to sign a Prop for this year as we are short of Props as we seem to of been for the last two years.
