Fullback Moltzen's best position

Benji is one of the panelists on tonight's Footy Show. When asked by Freddie Fitler what was happening with Moltzen, Benji replied that fullback is Moltzen's best position.

An interesting comment from Benji who avoided being PC and saying something like it's up to the coach etc. Benji came out and endorsed fullback as the position Moltzen is best at. Unfortunately this point wasn't probed further, it would be interesting to hear whether Moltzen should be selected in that position sooner rather than later in Benji's opinion and what his view is in relation to McKinnon.

What would happen to McKinnon if he was replaced at fullback by Moltzen? Does he go on to the wing, the bench or lower grades?

It will probably happen unless McKinnon hits a purple patch of form over the next few weeks.

mckinnons bones will let him down not his brains - like i said in another thread - but if hodgson is still running around then maybe mckinnon can too - the show must go on

yeah saw it too . Can't see Mackinnon playing on wing others viable options though

thanks happy tiger - your a dead set genius - the next sherlock holmes :deadhorse:

Lol, ease up.
McKinnon to seek early release & head to the UK.
Motlzen full time full back & Beau Ryan to make a return to the wing, pushing Utai to a possible bench position or lower grades.
Bet ya house on it.

sorry demps - didnt mean to upset you - just finished watching al pacino - in cruising - the movie you didnt like - and you call yourself an al pacino fan - also it was on foxtel - what i want to watch when i want to watch it.

I'm not quite ready to write off Beau at fullback either . His yardage from the back is amazing i think he average around 170 metres per game from the back when he was there . His issues are high balls of course If he improved in that area maybe …..

Haha, thats unfortunate

Well a few on here wont like Benji saying that. Heres just a few posts that disagree with the worlds best player.

"Anyone who wants Moltzen at fullback is honestly retarded."

"Mate I am a Motlz fan but he is a woeful fullback. The side is weaker with him there"

"He is not a fullbacks xxxxx. If you think so you're watching a different game.

Loses ground on kick returns. Poor positioning in defense"

"And once again, anyone who wants Moltzen at fullback is honestly deluded. Moltzen is a TERRIBLE fullback."

"Anybody who thinks moltzen is a good fullback has no idea"

"Moltzen is terrible at FB."

Now just because Benji thinks he can succeed there doesnt make it true, but i find it interesting that some feel soooooooo strongly against it when others can see it happening, but thats what makes footy great. I think Tigh makes an excellent point when he said that Moltz was a 20 year old kid when he played fullback….so he made some mistakes, but if he cant get a crack at 5/8, then his long term futre is at fullback. Give it and him time.

Sorry to talk about the nasty elephant in the room, but Moltzen could be playing in the halves by April with McKinnon still at the back. There is the possibility that both of our halves could be out of the game for a short to extended period.

What is Molzten's best position? Anywhere in the starting 13\. I don't care so long as he starts working up to 80 minutes.

Moltzen's kick returns and defensive positioning are both diabolical. This is a fact.

Practice makes perfect.
Moltz @ #1 Full.Time

He can practice in State Cup instead of negatively effecting the first grade side.

There is simply too much on the line in first grade for Moltzen to "practice" such a key position.

Agreed… While I feel Benji is being polite in making this statement to take pressure away from another Tiger, McKinnon must perform over the first 6 weeks, as Moltzen will be right-to-go by round 8-10 and is just too good not to be in the 13 somewhere...

If Robbie Lui broke a fingernail and was out for a couple of weeks….What position do you think Benji would say Moltz is suited to.....fullback........

Thank you for condensing pages of lunatic comments in 1 post too....LOVE YOUR WORK
