If Brooks was at any other club he would have been dropped and sold off years ago.
Yes he is going good now, but he has taken nearly 100 games to do it, no other team would have waited anywhere near that long.
Tim Smith, Tasesa Lavea are 2 other halves who won rookie of the year and were duds
I agree we should have punted Brooks and kept LittleJohn. LittleJohn or Milky or Moses on a Mill per season.
Where did I say we should have kept any of those nuffies, you and a few others just make crap up to put the boot in.
I am glad we let those blokes go, I stand by my comments Brooks got a free ride he would never have got at another club.
I have said numerous times Brooks is playing good now, the last month, but before that he was over payed and over rated.
What is so wrong with those opinions, if Brooks had shown anything he would have had big money offers from other teams to move on like his mates did last year.
I think most people would agree with you 851\. In previous seasons, even former great halves like Johns and Fittler were lamenting that Brooks wasn't living up to expectations and just wouldn't take control of matches like a good half should. When it comes to assessing halfback play, I trust their judgment over anyone on here. Their disappointment was palpable, as it was for many of us fans.
Thankfully now though he is coming into his own. It's taken a while and in hindsight, I guess I'm glad we persisted with him. However, I reckon if we had any better options for half during this period, Brooks may not have been given the 'free ride' he was given. I agree that other clubs with better halfback stocks probably would've booted him sooner.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing though. It turns everyone into "I told you so" experts. **Truth be known I reckon all Tigers supporters, at some point,** would've had some doubts about Brooks ever fully realising his 'potential' in the NRL.
