Fulton's Effort

Liam Fulton made 43 tackles in 63 miniutes of foota. The quality of his defence was what realy kept us in the match. He just keeps on ripping in 100%. When he went off it seemed to me we were just hanging on in defence. For mine he is our most valuable defender by a long way and in the top half dozen in the nrl. Man I hope his injury isnt too serious.

Agreed Badger. He did a lot of cleaning up when half breaks were made and is very important to the team effort. When Ellis returns I believe it should be Heighno that makes way in the starting pack.

Well said. His contribution to the team is lost to some forum experts. He is a machine in defence and takes a lot of dirty hit ups coming out of own half.

Hope his injury isn't to serious

Excellent post! Liam deserves a lot more credit than he gets! He has been great for us this year, always there to clean up the missed tackles of others. We really can't afford to lose him to injury. Fingers crossed for next week!

With Fulton it is week in week out same performance. He does not put the big hits on, he tackles around the legs, takes the ball up at pace, he is a workaholic. The guy is one of the standouts for me this year.

always cleaned up half breaks. when there were breaks, always the first forward to get back in the defensive line. with blair and fulton we have two very nice ball playing 2nd rowers.

Fulton has been the most consistent player week in week out for the Wests Tigers over the last 2 years…..without his wingman , Bryce Gibbs this year , he has been the Cleaner for our defense .
He combined so well with Benji close to the line , a perfect hole runner
We will lose games this year , because he won't be on field due to injury ...tough as nails though he is .

He's been in career best. Tackles his arse off every week and always gets back to take a hit up out of our 20 from a kick. His contribution has not been lost on me

I really like Fulton. Great on the right hand side when we are on the attack. He works hard all game and his defence is at a really high level.

He deserves to keep his spot.

Agree 100% Fulton is firing like a Gattling Gun, he does a lot of dirty work & tries his ring off every week & when Ellis comes back i think Heino will come off the bench which is good for H

Another great thing about his game is his lack of errors. Playing off benji and robbie would be fun but sometimes they give the ball only half a second before the defensive line. I am continually amazed at fulton's ball security in those situations.

Great, underrated player. His percentage of completing the tackle is outstanding from last year and has been the same this year. Rarely misses and I believe was somewhere around 95% last season. For a bloke who punches well above his weight - he's bloody tough and will always dig in and do the 1%'ers. His ball playing and chiming in the backline or filling in at hooker goes unnoticed sometimes also. Definitely one of the Tigers form players this year. Well done Fults

What some won't know is that when the media were talking up Buhrer as a bolter for origin, Tim was pushing Fults' name behind the scenes…...definitely wouldn't let anyone down in any NSW team

Tim wasn't the only one I couldnt believe they went for buhrer- they didnt need a utility but if u did then Fulton was the best option

I don't see Fulton as a utility player.

He is a starter who needs a good pack of forwards around him. So long as you have a good set of props and some backrowers that can help work the ball out of your end he is a real good player. He will hit it up but he gets dominated at times when working it out from our end.

He is a great player though - his running game and his defensive work rate are at the top level.

I think he should retain his spot in the team when Ellis gets back and Heighno goes to the bench.

Wonder why he didnt come out publicly about it like he did with Farah, Woods & Kilo

Love the guy. He was our best last year. Has gone from a fringe player to an essential part of one of the best packs in the NRL through sheer hard work and persistence. The harder you knock him the better he gets….gotta love that.

Fulton was the one reason Buhrer was in SOOI but it wasn't Liam. You would think Stuart would find a new adviser considering some of his selection blunders in recent years (7mins off the bench in SOO....wtf?, Jason King was another brainwave selection....he wasnt even in the top 5 NSW props at the time of selection). Key reason why tigers havent got a look in over the past few years...Stuart is an idiot.

Yep he is playing well at the moment Actually he has been playing well since our bad patch last season

I wonder how many are ready to admit they owe Liam a big apology

Many were writing him off and wanted him gone

Its not that simple. I could always see his worth however we often suffered from a lack of go forward and this is the worse part of his game. Against Melbourne he made 53 metres in attack. Those metres are simply not good enough if your pack is struggling with go forward.

At the moment we have a great set of props and two wingers (especially Utai) who get us going forward from the start of our sets. This means that Fulton's weakness is not really a big issue and his positives are pretty obvious.

Liam Fulton in career best form all of 2012…. Glad he's on our team... As a matter of fact our forwards last 6 weeks have been awesome... Can't wait for Ellis to return!
