FYI Cronulla and Gold Coast Game Betting Cancelled

Just read a article online that I think is a extract from todays SMH, should have cut and pasted it but Iam sure someone else will do that. Anyway it seems from the article that the authorities have a truck load on the Sharks and the club will be very lucky to come out of this mess.

I don't know about that…if you are taking performance-enhancing drugs then you are cheating IMO. People that have been doing it and get caught will pass it off as "just trying to get a little edge over the rest of the competition". But it is straight-out cheating.

Is it cheating if they didn't know what they were taking? Maybe if they were suspicious or turned a blind eye, but who knows what they took? Dank? He's not talking. At this point is it still conjecture. They've gone for the soft targets, but now that they have legal representation, they ain't sayin' nothing. ASADA's bluff has been called. Clearly they have no positive samples, so they're fishing for confessions. Small men with little dicks trying to prove to the world that they are important. Still, i could be wrong;-)

Well if they were given something that was illegal and they DIDN'T know about it then there will be lawsuits that will make our head spin. Wasn't there a little snippet midweek re: if Sharks players stood down they would be paid in full by Cronulla so long as they didn't sue Cronulla?? I heard that and thought it was dodgy for sure.

Would be a shame because even if the Sharkies were cheating, they were still not good enough!

Dunno if its this one…...but it sure dont help them any:

Cronulla Sharks players have allegedly received under-the-table payments from a security company sponsor, opening another battle front for the club at the centre of an investigation by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency.
>
Fairfax Media has confirmed the Sharks have recently severed ties with the company E Group Security, which was a sponsor and provided security to the club, and replaced it with another security firm.
>
However, it has been alleged once the club realised the company, run by former rugby league player Sami Chamoun, had allegedly helped to top up the money for its star players outside the salary cap, the board went into panic mode............................

Looks like the small dicks might have something if the coach, the support staff and the doctor gets sacked. Been lots of "save the doctor" articles.. surely he is the first to go.. to be the club doctor that presides over the injection of substances not fit for human consumption is surely the biggest sin. Next stop the coach. We all take responsibility and are held responsible in our workplaces.. so they should be too.

Absolutely. That is why it seems as though the players were in the know, if not they will sue the pants off of someone. Time will tell but it seems to me that for some reason the Sharks are throwing high-ranking people under the bus to maybe cut a deal with the NRL???? As someone previously posted : the NRL will sue to the death over the TV rights if Cronulla are punted for season 2013\. It won't happen.

Seeing as this is going to continue for quite some time, may I suggest locking one of the threads seeing as there's two on the same topic currently running - merging threads just creates a mess and its hard to keep track of which thread your particular post is in.

I'm not going to enter into a discussion BP because you seem to buy into this guff. For the record though none of this has been driven by Labor or any other political party. Sure maybe they stuck their nose in at the presser but neither the decision to investigate, the investigation, the timing of the release of the initial report or ASADA's movements now are directed by politicians.

Also a lack of released "proof" does not mean there is no proof at all. If you seriously think ASADA and the ACC are pursuing this based on no proof then there is no point engaging at all on the issue.

Open your eyes you say? Oh the irony…

BUT WHERE IS THERE PROOF U DONT ACCUSE SOMEONE OF ROBBING A STORE AND SAY WE WILL GET BACK TO U IN SIX TO 12 MONTHS IF WE GET ANY. ITS A STUNT AND IT BACKFIRED BADLEY. AND IAM NOT SAYING NO IS GUILTY BUT IT HAS BEEN BADLEY F==KED UP BY WHO EVER IS IN CHARGE.

mate what has happened at the sharks they must have proof and the board is guarding its arse with the stand downs and sackings.for sure there is a whistle blower it will come out soon .but if cronulla is involved the worry is how many other clubs.

I believe the unbiased coverage on this issue will be provided by the SMH not the Telegraph. The Telegraph's sports editor Phil Rothfield is a strong Cronulla supporter.

To be quite frank I'd be happy to see all betting cancelled on RL games. Nothing 'pees' me off more than having top put up with these betting dead-heads like Waterhouse, Sterling and Munsie standing there giving me facts and figures on who will fart first, drink two litres of Gatorade without breathing and all that other crap. I just want football. Bet on horses if you wish. A stupid development. For what???

even the sharks chairman is now admitting it, but people will still stick to their conspiracy theories. It's never worth trying to debate with a conspiracy theorist becuase, like religion, it is purely a matter of belief. That and being seen as the cool, cynical kid who REALLY knows what's going on.

& supercoach, was this the article?

Overcommercialisation, overcommercialisation, overcommercialisation. It seems that every buisness is trying to make every cent it can out of Rugby League. Remember that Rugby League is just a game which started as a sport to be enjoyed by the working people. People like Waterhouse don't fall into that category.

Yeah, lot of things going on behind the scenes so the average punter will just have to wait and see how it all unfolds.Manly(& some of their former employees) is the elephant in the room, they have Premerships at stake and every Sports Journo. in Sydney have been aware of the rumours over the past few years, calf blood injections was just the tip of the iceberg.Zorba was on SkySports Radio this morning saying they have nothing to hide but we will see.

Firstly everything that has come out has been generated by the media and rumors on forums like this. ASADA and the ACC are a statutory body and as such cannot divulge any information about anyone. When they are charged you will know who they are and you might find out what the evidence that supports it is. **Till then keep reading the telegraph and listening to Hadley to get all your reliable information.**

I hope that's sarcasm!

Threads are all over the place. So we will keep the talk about the sharks situation in this thread.
