Oh and congrats to him on his selection. Has been only one of a handful of players giving a 100% each week for the tigers. Knows he gets paid to do a job and does it regardless of all the other crap going on. Why can't the pretty boys in the team do the same!!!

Wests Tigers prop Keith Galloway finally earns Blues stripes

Wests Tigers copper top Keith Galloway was named in a 20-man NSW squad for the deciding State of Origin game against Queensland on Wednesday week.

NSW coach Ricky Stuart named the extended squad to cover for injuries and any potential problems that may arise from tonight's match between Manly and St George Illawarra in Wollongong.

It is expected Stuart will cull his squad by the weekend.

The in-form Galloway and Manly back-rower Glenn Stewart are the big surprises.

Stuart did not even name his side in positions, just a squad in alphabetical order.

"If I could get a game, I'd be absolutely rapt," Galloway told The Daily Telegraph last night."I was hopeful but hadn't given it too much thought. I feel I've been playing good.

"I'll just get into camp, meet the boys and see what comes."Everyone is talking about the game, so to play would be unbelievable. I'm pretty excited. I'm over the moon to be thought of."

Galloway gives Stuart another prop in what will be a physical encounter at Suncorp Stadium.

"He's been in good form," Stuart said. "I spoke to his club coach Tim Sheens yesterday about the way he's playing and some of his performances of late have probably been some of his best for a long time.

"I know 'Sheensy' is very happy with the way he has been playing."

NSW have injury concerns over Kurt Gidley, Beau Scott, Ben Creagh and Michael Jennings, while Parramatta star Jarryd Hayne could be charged today with lifting his arm on an opponent.

Asked about Jennings, who missed yesterday's game for Penrith because of an ankle injury, Stuart said: "There is a chance of him being right, so that is why he has been selected. I know he has been working with the Penrith people around the clock."

It has already been a disrupted lead-up for a side attempting to finally stop the Queensland juggernaut.

"This is not a trick-shot type of thing. It's just covering all bases and trying to pick the best team," Stuart said.

"We wanted to pick a squad this time to cover as many options if we have injuries. This squad has a lot of versatility, which is important.

"Our whole preparation has been turned upside down for the most important game of the series.

"When I'm comfortable and I know the players are fit and I think they're going to be 100 per cent right to play, I'll name the team.

"It's very frustrating, but it's something that every coach has to put up with every week. I'm trying to handle this as I would handle a club team."Stuart is anticipating a hectic reception in Brisbane for Darren Lockyer's final match for Queensland.

Stuart played in Wally Lewis's farewell game in 1991, when the Maroons constantly disrupted NSW's preparations.

"It was all about Wally, as it's going to be about Darren," Stuart said. "Every extra hurdle is going to be thrown at us when we get to Brisbane.

"So these disruptions (the injuries and NRL match) are going to be minor compared with what is confronting us when we go to Brisbane.

"In 1991 we lost the game. It was like we were invited to the party but weren't allowed to dance or have a beer.

"I just hope going into this game, there are two teams there. The occasion won't be too big for my players.

"I just hope the occasion won't be too big for other people involved."

Canberra's Tom Learoyd-Lahrs missed selection, Will Hopoate was not considered through injury, while Brett Morris returned to the side after an injury.

Five Dragons players were picked and a sixth, fullback Darius Boyd, is set to be selected for Queensland when the Maroons name their team today.

Ricky Stuart must be the biggest liar in the world how could NSW preparations be affected by Wally Lewis announcement he was going to retire when Lewis retirment announcement was made with about 11 minutes to go in the actual game I was their and heard the announcement

It's funny, you could argue we have not played well the past 2 weeks and Galloway gets picked. I now understand how players like Pearce, Snowden etc get picked.

IMO he will not play but if I am wrong and he plays he will be a standout and will never lose his spot in the team !! he just needs a chance !!

Unless he starts I won't be ending my boycott. If he doesn't run on the field it will be another token gesture like Lawrence being 18th man and Farah being 19th man (not token for the players mind you, token for me as a WT fan).

I also read talk of Hayne playing centre if Jennings isn't fit which would be bizarre considering he wasn't considered at fullback (where he actually plays) but could play SOO in 2 positions he doesn't. Ayshford is a much better centre at the moment than Hayne.

He was picked as a fringe player.. Deserved selection. Still doesnt give WT are stamp of recognition as a team oozing with origin talent..
