Galvin Player Swap Options

With Galvin looking for an exit door and a number of clubs that’ll be interested. We have a very big carrot that a lot of clubs may be interested in.

I’ve listed the clubs who might have current interest.

This is more aimed at who we think might be the best targets at each team should an early release and swap happen. Backrow, lock and centre are all spots we could use some improvements.

1. Bulldogs - Gould is a massive fan and has been openly voicing his praises for a long time. I think he’s secretly been in his ear behind the scenes also. Rumours are they’d shift Burton to fullback. Think they’d reject a request for Crichton or Preston, but Preston would be one of my top picks. I think we could get Kikau without a swap.
Player swap options: Preston, Kikau.

2. Broncos - Highly unlikely. Unknown whether Reynolds plays on with them, but they’ll still have Hunt and Mam in the halves. Reynolds may get some interest from us anyway if we want an experienced half if they feel Fainu needs some more time. Has a relationship with Richo. Could stay at Broncos if they find the cash, have a swan song at Souths, play an interim role elsewhere, retire or head overseas. Too many injuries.

3. Cowboys - Smokey. Dearden to half and they could look to improve their 5/8 spot.
Player swap options: Nanai

4. Canberra - Highly unlikely. Fogarty may leave, but they’ll invest in Strange and Saunders if he does.

5. Dragons - Highly unlikely. Flanno won’t drop his son. Only spot would be halfback and I don’t think that suits Galvin’s game.

6. Dolphins - Unlikely - I don’t think they’ll go for 2 young halves.
Player swap options: Farnworth, Gilbert, Plath

7. Knights - Unlikely. Brown/Sharpe probable halves pairing next year. However we could end up with a player from them via other options if Galvin goes to Parra and Brown is released early.
Player swap options: KPP, Lucas, Best

8. Manly - Possible, but Seibold denied interest. Lots going on with their halves. DCE leaving. Talk of Brooks being shopped. I think the best outcome for us would be an Olakau'atu/Galvin trade out of all the players mentioned. He’s very close with the Fainu brothers and an absolute gun. Galvin/Fogarty combo?

9. Panthers - My top smokey. They wanted him a while back. Penrith are stuggling without that running 5/8. Ivan’s #1 recruitment policy is fitness which Lachie has in spades. Could see him playing a similar role to Luai there. The comment on the coach being able to develop him as a half kind of fits. The money will be the problem here. Could see To’o coming as a trade, which would require us to re-think our backline. I could also see him coming our way regardless with them having other priorities to fix. Only other swap I’d entertain is Liam Martin.

10. Parramatta - Likely. Parra fan growing up. Would probably play well with Moses. Plenty of cash here.
Possible swap: Lomax, Penisini, Hopgood

11. Rabbitohs - Rough Smokey. Humphries has done a good job to start the year and Walker is ageing. I doubt Bennett keeps Latrell in the 6 long term. I could see Galvin being a little project for Wayne though and a long term replacement for Walker. Don’t think this will happen though.
Possible swap options: Koloamatangi, Duncan

12. Roosters - Likely. Could see him fitting into their systems. They’ll have the cash also (sombrero style).
Possible swap options: Crichton, Leniu

13. Sharks - No. Fitzgibbon seems pretty certain in his spine.

14. Storm - No. Spine is locked with juniors coming through. If he held until 2027, they may enter the conversation depending on who moves on.

15. Titans - No. They’ve got more fullbacks as halves than they know what to do with.

16. Warriors - Unlikely. The 5/8 spot isn’t a lock, although I can’t see Galvin leaving the country at all.

manly or parra are his choices imo theres not many other clubs around that dont have a good 5/8 already
I agree. Problem is I think we have the opportunity to get a real top line signing in a swap. If it’s down to Parra and Manly, the only 2 players on-contract that would really improve us instantly is Ola’kauatu and Lomax. Outside of that I’m not really sold and I don’t think they give up either. I’d rather leave the kid in NSW Cup and wait for a better player.

I think Penrith and Cowboys might be in the mix too. Penrith are in real trouble. Maybe they give Talagi back to Parra, get Galvin and give us To’o. Martin would be unreal though.

Really its: Bulldogs, Parra, Cowboys...

I am going to rule out Easts/Manly as they just don't need a Galvin.

Bulldogs, I would trade in Burton, Kikau, Preston ... or lets see what they offer. It would be very telling if they let Burton go and would show how "family club" Gould really is. ... I don't think Kikau is a guarantee leave by any means nor a player that would be easy to get here. A swap now gets us our 2RF we need.

Cowboys, Nanai... But we could definately lean on their roster and pick up a forward. Unsure who else is on the outer there that we would want, but there are options.

Parramatta is the real target for Galvin. We could grab a forward, but I just don't see Ryles punting someone we would actually want unless they have a problem.

I see NZ as the real dark and smokey.

Seibold has already come out and said Manlys not interested. I think if Gus was interested in him but this weeks events might of soured that a little. My guess is Parra is a sure thing but no one expected the massive blow up that’s happened. They probably thought they could shake him loose without a player in exchange.

very difficult to coordinate player swaps simultaneously that are win /win...Olam we thought was as close as weve got,and...hmmm...didnt end gr8
Eels are offering him a$ mill for next year,,,Galvin ,gives half of that to us for an early release and get him out of the joint at year end,and hes still better off than our$300 contract for 26
Or rot in reserves
We need to take a strong stance and set precedents that were not a doormat

The thing is, we can request a player in a trade, the other club can't make them join if the player doesn't want to though
Parra players would be easy targets after Monday when we belt them , Galvin for any one at Parra who fits a spot we need to fill
Backrow , Centre , they have some good ones

We are missing a backrower that can offload.

Seyfarth has energy, but gets wrapped up too often.

We need someone that can get their hands free for Bula or the centres to take advantage.

This might be considered out of left field and I’m risking getting banned for life, but…
I would happily accept a swap deal with Manly. Brooks for Galvin. There would be a few details to sort (who keeps the bbq etc).
Anyone else see it happening?

Of all the possibilities mentioned I think Olakau'atu would be the ideal pick up. A big, strong tackle busting second rower. Can't see this happening though. If the mail is that Parra is his destination then I would entertain Hopgood as a favourable option. He would certainly improve our team if we can get Latu fit and firing in the halves. Unfortunately I don't see a direct player swap as the likely outcome.

We already had a war chest to increase Galvin this & next year so it may give us the opportunity to secure 2 players we have been reportedly after in Kai Pearce-Paul & Kobe Hetherington.

Yes I agree with you BWG. I have long been a supporter of Kobe Hetherington. Think he is a great no-nonsense bone rattling footballer. KPP is being under utilised at the Knights. I would definitely take both of those guys on in a heartbeat.
