Should give our boys an additional incentive - to send out the best player in our squad for the last three years a premiership winner.

fair enough, family first.
would be bery fitting for him, to return to england with a wests-tigers premiership ring.

I'm a little relieved actually because i've been following the SC blog for the last few hrs and it popped up that the Tigers had released Ellis and I thought it was for this yr. So i'm thankful that he'll still be around this yr though. Still overall very disappointing news. On the bright side we should have some cash to spend between him and most likely Lote

Wish him all the best and hope he has a big final year. Has been a great signing both on and off the field. Couldnt be happier with him, and im happy with his decision, and the Tigers did the right thing in releasing him.

By announcing it early gives us plenty of notice that we will will have some spare loot and can start looking now.
Hope we can bring home the premiership for Ellis - one of the most consistently good players you'll ever see!

Be sad to see him go, but family is more important. Hopefully the boys can give him the grand final win as a send off.

As others have said, there is a silver lining, it will free up some cash for 2013.

Sad news. I look forward to watching his last year and I'm sure he will go out with another strong year. Another reason to win the comp in 2012!

**MEDIA RELEASE:**

GARETH ELLIS TO RETURN HOME TO ENGLAND IN 2013

Wests Tigers have today agreed to release international second-rower Gareth Ellis a year earlier from his contract to enable him to return home to England in 2013.

The England second-rower – rated by many as the best in the world – was contracted to Wests Tigers until the end of 2013 but asked the Club for a release after this season.

“Whilst we are disappointed, we have granted Gareth his wish to return to England at the end of this year,’’ said Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys.

A legend of the club. Thanks Gareth for giving our pack the mongrel it needed. Will go down as one of the game's best imports, fondly alongside Andy Currier, Gary Schofield, Ellery Hanley…

He is irreplaceable, regardless of how much money we have to spend.

Unless we sign a top 5 forward we will be worse off without him.

Hopefully we can send him out a winner. It's the least he deserves. Been a fantastic player, one of our best. IMO he is the best signing the club has ever made.

Big loss , but now paves the way for Wests to sign Sony Bill !

Gareths salary , jersey number and position should make Sonny a perfect fit for Wests Tigers !
